And people have gone mid 10s with DOT tyres in full interior "GTS" Skylines running 2.5litre engines and lowly GT3582Rs (under 400wkw). Hell one of my mates did a fair number of 10.6-10.8s runs with a stock bottom end RB25 25T, so one would imagine the same thing on full slicks - stripped out and a 3litre on it would go quicker again. Thats before you get into the fact this car would be making half the power again.....

Here is the rest of what i said, I clearly did have some involvement in the thread, by saying that neither car is really suited for drag racing in standardish form.

As a matter of fact that if I was talking to someone about this in person, I would say that it's a pointless idea.

So...how about you take some of your own advise and STFU, this is what forums are about...If no one replied to questions (even if they arn't what the OP wants to hear) than forums would cease to exist.

I don't think the question was "will the cars make it" or "are they good drag cars". The question was, ad-libbing, "Which car would be faster?"

How do you know the cars aren't set up to withstand the quarter mile?

u can see photos of my build thread here i dont have many recent photos to show, the pics in the build thread are about 5 months old just after i picked it up from dt panels

i wont post pics of my mates gtr until its finished

what tires u gonna use?

yeah im close to 150k... heres a basic rundown of the costs

car was 30k

engine is 40k

gearbox is 10k

clutch, diff, tail shaft etc 10k

thats 142k

also my best mate is building it and i help out where i can so im saving heaps on labour as well

Your mate is building it and its STILL costing 40k for a 26/30? :ninja:

I could see it being 25-30k total for big setup... but another 10k on top... that is some serious ouch.

You'd want some nice brand names for 40k, same with the clutch/tailshaft, that all should be 5k tops! ;)

A T04Z R33 GTR will be a 10s, a GT42R GTt SHOULD be in the single digits if everything is done right.
Curious, how fast do people expect the T04Z GTR to go?

A T04Z/Slicks GTR & dog box is a 9 IMO.

440rwkw+ will get to low 10's on semi's & a H pattern... So i could see the single digit ET for the GTR easily enough

Of course that's all the "variables" covered off and all.

for tyres ill be using something like this most likely

nismoid

my mate is not the boss unfortunately, he works for a workshop and the car is there and he is building it but i do have to pay his boss for his time.

and yes there are some serious brands going into it.

as well as many custom made parts.

Enough with the theory talk. Take them to the track and see. Also 140k on a car? Wow, do you still live at home?

ahh no mate i bought my only place when i was 22

i got 2 houses now ;)

and im only 25

Not being rude here, but seriously 40k for a 26/30?

I'm having a VERY hard time adding that up. Even with a billet 86mm crank and brand name parts for the rest i can't add it all up.

Mind posting an engine spec list please? I hate hearing of people getting ripped off

i agree with you on this my mate built a jun 2.7 litre t51r motor for less, sounds like someone is overcharging....

i dont feel as though im getting overcharged at all

engine will be able to produce over 1000hp

off the top of my head here is a spec sheet please bear in mind that this is not every thing

rb30 block

brand new r34 gtr rb26 head

custom pistons

custom billet oil pump

conrods

custom girdle

6 boost manifold

gt42r turbo

60mm tial gate

hypertune manifold - the larger one

hypertune fuel rail

hypertune throttle body - the larger one

ati 1000hp balancer

tomei cam shafts

tomei cam gears

larger valves

valve springs

1000cc injectors

machine work - porting, polishing

custom loom

oil restrictors in the head

ignition system

fuel system - 2 pumps, surge tank, braided lines etc

pwr radiator

pwr custom cooler (may change to arc)

pwr oil cooler (may change to trust)

all the pulleys on the front of the engine i think tomei

massive water pump

custom catch tank

splitfires

massive custom sump

thats just off the top of my head i have a 2 page list of all the shit thats going into the engine

then add fittings, braided lines and all the little bullshit stuff u need

redline will be over 9000rpm

i really dont feel like i need to justify what im doing either this is my project car and this is what i wanna do with it quite frankly if any one doesnt like it they can go f**k themselves

also to everyone saying go out and race - thats the plan but only when they r both finished i started this thread to have a debate about what kind of numbers car with this sort of power pull down the quarter, not to have a debate about wether or not i live at home etc.

cheers

    • Haha that's wholesome as! Looks like we're raising a generation of female rev heads and classic shit box owners 🤣
    • Haha nice, my kids are the same two older boys say cars are boring while younger girls like them. My 1.5yo daughter watches D1GP on YouTube with me, holding a toy plate for steering wheel and making brmm brmm noises
    • Took the car out to see if it still starts, sure does. Daughter wanted to for a spin too, she loves it when it doses, also cries when we come home and try to take her out of the baby seat 🥲  I actually put the seat in for her brother, but he absolutely hates the shitbox. Anyhow, so after looking at real boats, and transoms, bait tanks etc. and scupper valves attached to them, I came up with ideas to improve the catch can. The primary goal was to stop the interior smelling like vented catch can shit when the windows are down OR when the HVAC is not recirculated. My catch can has a sump drain/feed at the bottom, 2x cam cover inlets, 1x outlet back to the intake pipe and 1x vent at the top. The initial theory was at idle, and off boost there would be just enough suction from the intake pipe (pre turbo) to pull back any smelly shit from the catch can before it could escape out of the vent (which does have 1x layer of foam and a fine mesh screen on top). It kind of works, however on hot days, the motor is breathing more than the suction provided from the intake pipe (pre turbo) and there's a bit of vapours escaping (not a bit amount, but enough to piss me off). I could have just sealed off the vent, however it would mean each time I take it to the track or decide to drive it with a bit of enthusiasm, I would need to remove the seal. To address this, using scupper valve idea, I used a 3mm sheet of rubber and cut essentially a valve that requires a bit of pressure to crack open and vent. Took the shit box for a drive today, came back and parked the car. No heavy stench, great success ☺️ I still would swap for a F80 LCI or W204 2012+ C63 AMG, if anyone is keen 😅
    • I'm with Kinkstaah on this one. Do it once, do it right. So much better for your mental health. The sneaky thing about the fuel pump wiring is that it will work perfectly fine for the longest time. Until that one moment when it decides to shit the bed. And it's not worth the paranoia from not trusting the car anymore. At least other mechanical issues announce themselves by developing some noise or other warning. If you have the funds, I'd suggest to go with a good kit like Frenchys and get the work done by a trustworthy shop. No regrets there. The only downside to the Frenchys kit on the Stagea/R32 GTR is that their fuel level sender is not on point. But looks like the R33 kit maintains the factory sender so should not be an issue. This is what the botched setup on my Stagea looked like before it stopped working. It had melted its way quite a distance down. Glad it didn't burn down the car.   Some links I came across when I looked for solutions: Radium sells a DIY wiring kit that looks promising. I didn't buy it though, I let my workshop decide on wiring. https://www.prospeedracing.com.au/products/radium-diy-fuel-pump-hard-wiring-kit-17-0031 https://www.radiumauto.com/DIY-Fuel-Pump-Wiring-Kit-P368.aspx   You can also get cheap replacements for the locking ring depending on how mangled it looks: https://www.kudosmotorsports.com/Nissan-17343-79900-Fuel-Tank-Outlet-Locking-Ring-for-Nissan-S14-S15-BNR32-R33-R34-AWC34 There are tools for unscrewing it as well so you don't have to abuse it with a screwdriver and mallet. The Frenchys one is expensive but I'm sure there are cheaper ones.
