I'm using the stock mani but it has a very good welding job done on it and has a collector with a 38ml gate and screamer on it. I have a bleed valve ,z32 afm with big pod,oil catch tank, fmic, full 3inch exhaust, gtr injectors and reststor pack, new yellow jacket coil packs, power FC with controller plus have just scored a aftermarket clutch and lightened flywheel and am thinking of cams and if needed a oil cooler..

I went backwards with Apexi 260/8.8mm cams so removed them after hours on the dyno and some disappointing results from the test drive. They did sound tough though :) So I would hold off on cams and go with the oil cooler.

The TD06-20G and RB20 will never have the response of some of the other combos, but it will be a reliable grunter able to run 12.2-12.8sec qtr miles so still a respectably quick car. I would prefer it over the other options you have but the real test should be for you to go for a drive or get a steer of a car with a similar setup to see if that's the direction you really want to run.

I have been in a sr with 3071 and did like but that thing needed around 20 psi to start getting on song and I have owned a td05-20g so as i liked the feel of that I decided to go the td06 l2 20g 8cm and went and picked it up yesterday. Will be going in next week, only thing is I'm trying to get a t3 to 3 bolt trust style flange adaptor for my mani as I dont have a grand for greddy or good aftermarket mani..will post up dyno chart next week.

did you hear?

you've been approved.

For what?

As for living the dream? I wish! I hate having to travel to earn a dollar in my industry. In the last 10 years I have been OS for 4-5 years of it in countries most people would be happy to holiday in for 10days :( Living the dream would be a job, a house and my cars. Not a career, bad health and impulsive automotive buys to make up for everything being pretty shitty :)

Really depends on funds. I really need to stop buying mid price shit boxes and stop the cash burn on cars. At the moment I am thinking E30 EVO III M3, and a Viper of C4 ZR1. Love to get a ZO6 but need to get something I will flog off and think a Viper would be the way to go. Will keep the M3, and maybe the ZR1....but yeh. Will have to consider a cheapish car I can keep or a car I can flog for a small profit to help pay for a mancave. (which is the main reason for going OS with work...try and get some cash together because of stupi real estate prices)

i like the c4, which z06 where you looking at c5 or c6?

c5 zo6 seem to go for about the same as c4 zr1's, ($20.000 to $30.000) so depends on which one you like. :)

vipers don't seem to be easy to sell in aus, but you can always drive it till you sell it.

have you seen these?

Well, my motto is money is only important if you don't die tomorrow! :whistling:

So The E30 is a pretty much sure thing. If I can get a Sagaris as RHD car into the US and it is counted as a private import with regards to bringing it back to Aus then that may be the go. But odds are it will be an E30 to keep and perhaps something else as something to try and import and turn a profit...so dont really care what it is as long as its fun to drive/own for 12 months in the US and doesnt cost a fortune in parts when I break it at whatever tracks I get to...of course this is all assuming i can keep my Russian bride employed and bringing in the coin

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
