had the car at about 6500rpm in fifth** and the FC controller was saying 226km/hr, so i assume my top speed to be maybe 235ish. I thought it would go much faster than this somehow! I was speaking to a guy in a yellow CV8 monaro number plate VOODOO in S.A. who told me he topped out at 270km/hr, with 204rwkw. Is this possible? if so i imagine its coz of the long legged 6th gear.

Has anyone else got a speed for the top of fifth? (come on you've all been there!)

**under controlled conditions on a private road :)

also i was surprised at how smooth and stable the car was at this speed.

I've sat a few lengths behind an R34 GT-R with a 300km/h speedo that was showing close to ~260km/h. Not sure what rev's I was doing as I was more keen on looking down the track.

If you have enough room I'm sure you'd get more than 235km/h Al. How accurate is the speed reading on the FC Controller? Where does it take the signal from?

Had mine to 250kph, and ran out of road, it wasn't flat. AND It was a hot day and I still had the a/c going [forgot to turn it off, and the fan was on the two position, so the a/c was working]. I reckon with the right road and no a/c I might see 260-270.

The 300kph speedo was checked and calibrated only a short while before this, so have to assume it was correct [wheel ratios and sizes may have changed it a bit though, I'm on 17" rims and advan 40zr17 tyres].

ok ok.. factor in i have 19inch rims, i think that means that my speedo now under-reads, am i correct? I think also the faster i go, the more it will under read? im not sure.

The rims are a good deal taller than the stock wheel/tyre combo. So in fact i may have been doing ~250 but the FC only showing 226...

i dont know where the FC gets its speed reading from, but it matches the speedo on the dash pretty much exactly.

sydneykid, if you are correct, with my tall wheels at 6500rpm, that wouldve put me close to the 270 mark?!!??

or just drive ur car up to NT and hoon along the Stuart Hwy to your heart's content

Mine tops out at 193 according to the GPS speedo on 265/30 18s. But that *might* be the speed limiter.....about 4500rpm in 5th...

BTW, by my calc 7000 in 5th is 285, Sydneykid is 5th gear 0.694? and diff 4.11:1?

Oh, and make sure you pick a really long airstrip, 800m is nowhere near enough, so Goulburn is out :)

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
