yeah im think going a sard fuel reg, then different injectors.. mine are getting super noisy anyway.. esp now with the manifold cover off.

What bigger injectors did you get and how much were they, and did you require any fuel rail changes other than the injectors ?

who are ATP ? i take it theyre in victoria?

No point doing anything until you can tune it, Emanage is the only option at the moment...

ATP are in Melbourne but GCG will do one for you mate. Injectors are Seimens Deka 610cc, $450 a set.

why low comp? Up the comp and go E85 if you want HP!
E85 is not available in NZ - E10 is the only readily available fuel unless you want to pay for Q16 which is not that convenient and also expensive.

Re engines: Simon, who built the 600kw "Psymin" Stagea has taken all the good gear out of the car and put it in an R32 GTR which as you can imagine is even faster. He says that his next project will be with a VK56 (5.6L dohc V8).

You could always brew your own. :(

Can get C16 in NZ, which is race fuel, but its not cheap and ready available for road cars.

Yeah that Stageas insane, i'm going VK45 for the reason being there's alot more available for them at the present, so a cheaper choice.

I havent seen many performance parts getting around for them, of course I dont go looking much. Heavier and longer engine will upset the balance, you going rear drive?

Cheaper choice, is that like choice bro? :D

Thanks for the injector info!

Yeah i gathered other than the ecu upgrade.

so whats the variable with the nismo ecu's ? dont tune as well?

i take it these are piggybacks on the original ecu?

and GCG - i take theyre from the coast ?

i really need to take this step and getting a decent ecu.. i saw a nismo one on yahoo auctions for $500

GCG are in Sydney. I presume Nismo ecus are like Mines? Just a chipped stocker and not tunable? I see someone with an M35 has an Impul -is that tunable? Greddy E-Manage is tried and tested so should do you OK. BTW if you are upgrading the injectors forget the new fpr.

Bob is right.

I need a fpr for mine, not just for the extra flow, I will be going down the surge tank route and I want to run dash fittings with teflon lines. Apparently the ethanol will eat the rubber parts eventually and I want it reliable. You shouldnt need a fpr till well over 350kw on 98.

If we were in Japan, all the aftermarket ecu's would be fine as they are programmable but obviously we cant take our car to impul for a tune. Best options are FconV or Emanage Ultimate. Tuners are few and far between for both but the emanage can be accessed by you with a laptop, pretty sure you need a licence to tune the HKS.

you know I have the parts list to do the top of the motor don't you....+ the map :D....for the fuel system that is.

how much HP you chasing.....I would only go to about 400hp with the GCG BB set......morer than that go the Garret BB set.....bit more modding but well worth it if your looking for 450hp+

better still if you go E84....go for Scott's setup!....cheaper and works very well!

LOL! Naah

Yeah will be rear drive, my M35 is rwd now.

Will mostly be custom parts, the good thing is VK is slimmer than VQ so turbo setup is easy to do without having to cut bonnets and go crazy with manifold setup.

And my uncle owns a hotrod shop, so he will wana get his hands on it, cheap work!

After ripping the turbo and exhaust manifolds off today I test fitted them to the VQ35, they fit perfectly. The 35 has larger ports but the manifold is already the right size, not that I will be using them. It also looks like the 3.5 block is the same as the 2.5 block, just with larger sleeves.

I then test fitted an old GT35 I have and although close to both sides, it will fit no problem, (definitely need a turbo beanie though) so the project is going ahead as long as the sump fits...

Sounds awesome mate!

no wonder the vq25 blocks are so good!

    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
