Hi All,

I'm new round here, so bear with me while I have my forum training wheels on! I picked up my PNM35 yesterday. VQ35de, AWD. Its magic, love it. I'm not a "turbo" person so the VQ35 was perfect, having said that, I have driven turbo cars before and know the rush! And I'm also impressed with some of the atwkw that some of you guys are getting!

Now back to my question: Has anyone done a series 2 English conversion to the pop up screen thingo/computer? does it run the same system as the s1 M35's? At this stage I'm not looking at converting TV/satnav, as i understand they are pretty expensive.

Thanks to all you guys on here for providing so much quality info on the M35.

after thought: anyone got a proven ciggie smell removal technique that doesn't involve gutting the car or taking up smoking!!?? ;)

Cheers.

Twin turbo setup on a VQ35 and you will destroy all of us atm!!!:)

English Conversion for the S2 is in progress atm!....maybe December this year.....doesn't run the same system as the S1 unfortunately.

Replace the air filter in the aircon and try and leave your window's open as much as possible.

TV conversion is not too expensive and I have a couple of TV tuners left from the last group buy that will work on the M35.

Let me know if you want any more information.

I am still hoping for the language conversion to be available in September but that is my optimistic view.

Cheers

Andy

lol... I just knew that the first thing that would be said would be about a TT setup! It would be great fun, have to admit, that big HKS TT kit just looks sexy!

Thanks for the heads up with the screen conversion. I'll be keen. As for TV, we'll have to talk, it'd be nice.

Yeah, the guys did the AC filter for me before delivery (great service, great blokes), and the smell is greatly decreasing. Trying a couple of different things atm, which seem to be working. The Mrs doesn't even notice it, which is great!

Thanks guys.

Hi Alex, I'm new round here too.

I may have been told the wrong info re the english conversion, but I was led to believe it was available already. I'll have to confirm now.

Re your smoke smell, if you don't have leather seats, use Ambi-Pur carpet freshener powder (my missus likes "rainforest") and sprinkle it over everything (seats included) and leave for a few hours before vacuuming. You can leave a bit inside the ash tray/s and open them every now and then for an extra hit.

Gave this tip to the importer of my first Skyline many years ago. He couldn't believe how quickly we removed the smoke smell.

Unfortunately we are having more trouble with ours because the smell seems stuck in the leather seats....

available for series 1's, what year is yours ?

2005, Series 2, different interior, VQ35de motor, and a few little other things here and there i think (such as a different operating system in the trip computer.) Known as a PNM35.

As for smoking smell, thanks for the suggestions. I've given the coffee grounds a crack, and used a ozone generator. it's greatly reduced the smell, when i smelt the coffee out of the car, def smelt like ciggies!I now pretty much can't notice it. I have cloth seats, so don't really have any tips for leather. Maybe you might have to give them some hide feed or something, hydrate the leather a bit before trying to drag the smell out again?

I spoke to the developer last night and he confirmed that software for the PM35 will net be available for a couple of months. sorry guys.. he wishes he could have it read sooner.

Cheers

Yes it ended up getting done.

I do not know who you would contact now though. I chose not to bother because the way the leaf animates once the conversion is done was not to my liking (I always have the economy screen displaying, so this was important to me).

    • TBH, it sounds like the threads on the bolt are fubar in a specific section. Most likely as you've been working it back and forth it has torn threads out, as you loosen the bolt, this section enters the nut, now you're spinning a round shaft inside the nut, there's no threads here.   Use something similar to a claw on a hammer that will fit either side of the bolt head and try to apply downward force while also undoing it. The idea is to attempt to catch a thread, or just rip the f**ker out. Caution on ripping out, as it could bend/maime/mangle what the captive nut attaches to. If the captive nut is actually okay, you could do the dirty part of cutting the head off the bolt, then cut a slit in the end of the thread that's now exposed and then screw it up and into the area the captive nut is until it falls out the other side. However, this does risk the remainder of the bolt rusting over time and damaging near the captive nut and also making it rust. However, so can cutting pieces of panel work out to access this area if you don't reseal it properly.
    • Well, every piece of information on that part when you track it back to Nitto says it's for a KIT of theirs. It is also designed thicker to be stronger. And they speak about a specific harmonic balancer bolt they supply for the whole setup.
    • Techniques for removing stuck bolts are: hitting the bolt head with a hammer, heating the bolt to red hot then letting it cool and working it back and forth like you are already doing. AFAIK the idea is to try to crush whatever material is stuck between the threads (and heat also melts locktite but that's almost certainly not relevant in this case).
    • Yuh, I think it works with the Nitto gear only. I presume that you're not also using the Nitto gear? Watch the video. Compare the interface between the Nitto gear and washer (on the gear side) vs the stocker and decide if you think the Nitto gear is different from stock there.
