What physical driving characteristics would be noticed( or other aspects) between

the VQ25DET engine and Neo VQ25DET engine in a M35 Stagea 2002

"a NEO engine is classified as a low emission vehicle (LEV) engine due to their

lower fuel consumption and emission output. The NEO head featured solid lifters

rather than hydraulic, revised camshafts and a revised inlet manifold, in particular

the RB25DE NEO which had 2 inlets going into the inlet manifold. The combustion

chamber of the head is smaller, so GT-R spec connecting rods are used to compensate.

The turbo received the larger OP6 turbine."

Is there a NEO VQ25DET available ??

Scott, you really are naughty speaking so derogatorily of your ancestors.

BTW the H20 was used in TCM Forklifts.

Looks like I asked the wrong question.I guess thats why we have forums .

Whats the difference between a motor being a Neo and Non Neo motor

Edited by samuri

actually SRs sound like trucks. especially when they have VTC rattle.

anyway, the neo vvl is variable cam timing, duration and lift unlike the VTC equipped engines that were only variable cam timing.

The older neo engines just switch on a set degree on the intake at certain revs.

Ours can run anywhere between, constantly variable, but you can only adjust it with the Vmanage or a remap. Hopefully one day...

CVTC makes the engine a bit smoother, neo rb's have a dip in power as the cam switches in looking at the graphs.

neo rb's have cvtc

its the r33 rb25's that have the on/off vct

Ah right, so ours may use a very similar system, I was hoping to get a Vmanage some day to allow me to adjust the cams in limp mode. :( Then I can install the cable throttle again...

doesnt the emanage ultimate have nissan VTC output??

i remember my emanage blue had one for my SR20. mind you it made sweet FA difference if i changed the cams to come on earlier. turns out the factory setting was perfect for that engine!

Yep, it has a switch output (for Vtec etc?) but cant control the cvtc without the Vmanage.

Scotty , is that an aftermarket aerofoil of sorts on the rear roof area of your car,and if so where did you get it?

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
