How's the Economy been? 5-10% increase?

I've spoken with Seaview as well and I plan to get mine down by the end of March. Would love to do it at AVO since they have a dyno but their customer service seems crappy (left number for them to call as they didn't know anything about the M35 kit)...

hey mate. still going on my first tank i dont do a lot of K's most of the time.. done 168K's and LPG gauge says im half full (though its only 4 LEDs so hard to be accurate). If i get 300Ks out of the 50L tank ill be wrapped as that means its drinking 15L per 100. which is about 5% increase.. though granted now its so cheap to run im giving it a lot more stick than i used too.

first tank i filled up i got at 57c per litre! (61 - 4c discount) i tell ya i was the only prick smiling at the counter!

I didnt know AVO did conversions.. even if they did they prob are not certified to use Liquid injection (see below for installers). Id rather have someone that specialises in fitting these systems. if you are going elsewhere make sure you stress that you want a Liquid Phase Injection system. Nothing else. Not many people have access to these kits and id be pissed if you went in thinking you were getting liquid and you ended up with vapor.

As for the m35 kit. Tamme from seaview augmented a kit from another car to fit. So there is no m35 kit. Though it doesnt really matter with a system like this. Because its so simple If it fits it works.

The kit is known as a JTG (only company who do it).

Here is their website:

http://www.icomitalia.it/lang1/index.html

If you do want to use someone else the only installers who are JTG certified can be found here: (tick the box saying JTG Liquid Certified before doing your search)

http://www.australianlpgwarehouse.com.au/Find-a-Installer---Distributor.aspx

Hope this helps mate.

Modified X-trail system.... or was it the WRX system that was made to suit?

There is another system out there called Liquajet which is made by Alternative Fuel Innovations. Unfortunately they do not go into detail about their system on the website >_<

If you want to find out more about this system, talk to Ash and Frankston Gas Conversions (03 9786 1546).

I don't know the differences between the JTG (European design) and the Liquajet (from all accounts an Australian design) systems, but when speaking to Ash, he was more than happy to install a Liquajet system to suit your power requirements (I was asking him for around the 600hp mark - no probs for the injectors, just need a second pump in the tank).

iamhe77 ill take a pic this weekend :)

Awesome, thanks!

AVO was listed as a certified JTG installer according the Australia LPG warehouse's site (they distribute the JTG system here).

I think I'll go with Seaview anyway, just because they've got some experience with an M35 now. When I spoke to a tech at Aust LPG warehouse they recommended either Seaview or Frankston gas....

According to Cihan who will be tuning my M35, the VQ25DET ECU does NOT auto adjust/learn with the increased Octane. I'll have to take the car back to him for a touch up tune to take advantage of the higher RON. Small price to pay I guess

i would be very surprised if not bloody astounded if the ECU did not retard/increase timing with bad/good fuel.. every other nissan does even way back in the early 90s without it engines would be knocking to hell all the time its cheap insurance for a car company to implement.

I can almost guarantee if you go out today and put 91 regular in your tank then go and drive it hard.. it will knock like f*k as it learns the bad fuel and then it will just drive really poorly and not knock anymore as it retards the timing to compensate.

almost all modern cars continually adjust timing to compensate for fuel and intake temps and load etc..

I dont know who Cihan is though i dont think he knows what he's talking about. I dont think id wanting him tuning my car :)

Sorry i must have missed AVO on the list of installers i did a search though didnt get a hit.

The kit he augmented was i believe was a V6 Camry setup.

Iamhe77 are you referring to 2 LPG pumps? damn that must be flowing a lot :)

Hes tuned Scotts M35 and Jetwrecked's; in fact.. I think hes the only tuner who has actually tuned an M35 in this country.

Ok so i retract that statement. :) I guess you can be a very good tuner and still not understand how a factory ECU works. I guess as long as you understand piggyback or replacement engine management system.

Yes, and yes.

If you are wanting to get around the 300awkw from a 2.5L V6 pushing around the 19psi mark, you better have a good, reliable supply of fuel.

LOL...

this is what he emailed to me:

he standard ECU will not advance ignition timing, the vq25det doesn’t use an adaptive ignition system like late model Subaru or Mitsubishi turbo engines in my experience.

why are they usually dirty? :)

i never cleaned it.. maybe the LPG installer did (unlikely though!)

by the way just finished my first tank on the LPG 16L per 100 (all commuting traffic) plus i have been giving it plenty too :)

pretty happy!

you'd be suprised, sometimes they'll acid dip it to get all the gunk off it.

i tell ya im now REALLY happy i went to LPG. This sh!t going down in Libya they think oil is going to get very expensive real soon.

the government are trying to make the army bomb them using fighter jets, the army are detouring the planes.

yes because fuel prices should go up some more!

conspiracy theroies anyone?? lol

how do you fill the LPG tank in the spare wheel well? do they plumb it outside the car like they did with fords and holdens? or do you just open the boot?

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
