While we're on the TD subject...

What combination TD 06's have people run as a twin kit on a rb26, rb28, rb30? I'm thinking about going a little ol'skool.

Cheers

Justin

Seen a few Td05 kits, very similar to -5 and 10cm T517z's.

Or twin L2-20gs on rb30 and 2jz, easy 800hp.

I was thinking 2x L2 20g 6cm if I can find a pair-

Raced 10cm t517z's, have a td05 kit and I wan't a little more...

500rwkw+ is goood.

I've given up trying to fing the 'ultimate' hp v's response turbo set up... I just wan't somthing that puts a big smile on my face!

Could go twin T67 25Gs like the JUN Hyper Lemon R33 GT-R lol

Also I pulled my supposedly modified Trust TD07S, and its not, So I may end up using It as Split Pulse T4 manifolds are in abundance for the 1JZ's, So it has the same comp wheel and housing as the T67 but has a larger Rear wheel and a 14cm^2 rear housing, If I can find a 10 or 12cm^2 turbine housing for it Ill be cheering, but so far no luck finding anything smaller than the 14 :ninja:

The 6cm housing in soooo small. I am amazed any turbo cna make power with such a small exhaust housing?!?!?! I had one that I was going to try on my TD06 and RB20. It didnt make it anywhere near my engine bay as the thing was so small that no way could it past 2L worth of air effeciently...or so i thought?@? :ninja:

i tried a 6cm on a sr and it was a disaster ;) so you did good :ninja:

its was a 45 degree power line... not a curve.

These are a few things I found concerning TD06 family turbines .

The thing that I haven't been able to nut out yet is how to distinguish the 11 from the 12 bladed turbines and where each is available ie from TD06 Std/S/H/SH etc .

Mark at GT Pumps should know for sure .

Don't want to hijack the topic, but since we're on the subject.... what are my options for an RB20 if i wanted a TD06 similar to what Roy is using, but with a T3 flange? The reason i'm looking for T3 flange is because the car already has a HKS cast low mount manifold and external gate on it which i wouldn't mind hanging onto, if only for convenience sake.

I also have a set of HKS cams lying around that i'd like to have a play with at some point. I only mention this because i'm not sure if this should effect the turbo choice now or if its something i should just worry about later on.

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
