Thanks, good info.

"Some people believe that if they fit a very big intercooler with large ducts, the volume of charge air within it will unduly slow throttle response. Their concern is unjustified however - throttle response problems (for example, turbo lag) are largely the result of other factors within the forced induction system, not the volume of air within it." <- Thats exactly what I needed cleared up.

I had the JJR return flow.

The core was not gold for starters, its just a bad pic. Next the core was significantly better quality than their usual bar and plate 300x600.

When I bought mine I walked in to buy a blitz, on careful inspection I decided to go the JJR. Core looked like it would flow well on the outside and end tank/internal design looked excellent also.

I will buy again if this quality is maintained on other JJR cooler products, it really was a first.

I have blitz and will go blitz again.

Do a search i have seen a few threads on here where ppl have hit 250rwkw with the jjr and couldnt go any higher no matter how much boost they tried to put into it.

Hey personally, i think go the Blitz Return flow cooler, with the cooling pro and HDI, its a hassle to cut the fan and make the hole n stuff... Speically while cutting the fan blades, ull have to cut it so much that it defers the purpose of that fan...

Save the extra buck and get the Blitz Return flow, easy to install and great performance...

if your not planning an rb26 or a front facing plenum deff go the blitz, will keep your engine bay very need, no need to chop the thermo fan and its a good price, i remember when you couldnt get a jap brand cooler kit for under 1k.

if your going front facing plenum later grab the hdi kit

Just to confirm, Cooling Pro return flow kit requires trimming the thermo fan blades but the Blitz CS/SE does not?

Does either kit have the nipple for the R34 power steering line or do you have to drill & add it yourself for both?

And what about the washer bottle, does it need to be moved or replaced with either kit?

Sorry to hijack the thread, just trying to make up my mind between the two...

Trimming the thermo fan blades? What drugs are you on? Does not go any where near there thermo fan

Lol dude, both Zaver and s13_Skyline_inside mentioned something about chopping the fan (see quotes in my previous post above), just trying to confirm if that's really needed.

Think that's in reference to the non return flow coolers not the return flow JJ cooler

I stand corrected, first time i have heard of it tho, when i first got my 33 it had an over the radiator set up and the piping was closer to the engine than the fan.

And to answer you questions.

Return flow kits hook up to the factory piping, i believe all will need a little or a lot os trimming of the front bar but not the fan.

Pass

And what about the washer bottle, does it need to be moved or replaced with either kit?

In my 33 the non return flow that was in it had a hole down from the washer bottle, didnt have to be moved, i would assume that the 34 would have much the same lay out.

  • 1 month later...

what about HPI not HDI - sold by Just Jap for $499 from $799??

link:

http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=16892&cat=339&page=2

This is a supposedly JAP brand but not much info about this on the net - so now I'm left with the HPI kit, HDI and the Cooling Pro Stealth to choose.

Has anyone used these HPI kits and what are their views??? Please help me to decide between these three- the Blitz is to expensive.

cheers

thanks mate, thats impressive, didnt think the jjr stealth cooler could withstand 300KW+, what turbo r u running and what other mods?? Do you know your torque figure and what does it feel like on the street - ie low-mid range punch...

cheers

307kw with a jjr return flow no sign of any restrictions or problems they are one of the few that are cheaper but still perform well.

Check the rb25 dyno results thread mines one of the last ones there with the dyno sheet. I have cams fitted so yes I got the low mid range punch power band is unreal im running e85 though.

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
