Visited importfactory (ex kamikaze) tonight and had a look at a R34 GTT sedan. While I was inspecting the car the sales guy asked if I've checked out any Chasers. Sheepishly I said no...and he showed me a couple he had in stock. I was impressed. Guy claims they are better built and had more low down torque compared to the Skyline...

So....anyone's that's driven/owned both before - what's your opinion? I think I still prefer the Skyline's look...but the Chaser's got a tough/sleeper look to it...less of a cop magnet I presume?

And before anyone suggest couple/2 drs - I need a sedan.

What's the 1JZGET like compared to the RB25DET? Similar displacement...

What about the auto slush box? How do they compare?

jzx100 with manual gearbox is the hot tip. they are a bit more expensive, but worth every cent in my opinion

Just test drove a GTT at Power Road....wasn't terribly impressed - maybe I wasn't used to the different throttle (the throttle/response in my mazda 3 is really responsive) but to get the car going I'd need to hit 3000prm...before then its kinda meh.

Looks like I'll be getting a Chaser if its low down torque is really all its hyped up to be!

it's a turbo car. of course it won't have the low down power of a NA car, even though there is a 500cc difference in engine size. also the mazda probably has shorter gear ratios.

So an NA 2.0L has more torque down low then a Turbo 2.5L?

You're probably right about the gear ratios...they're quite short.

vvti 1jzgte is an awesome engine

379 nm of torque peaks at 2400 rpm and is perttm much flat untill past 6000

nearly finished putting one a s13 . gonna be epic

and yeah about the mazda your right . gfs mirage feels way faster round town than my stagea

chaser is getting a bit "common" these days.. i just worry that you'll regret it when you see one of "those dudes" driving one..

..you know.. the dude that's somehow ALWAYS got sunburned red dry skin.. dried out lips.. a wobbly nose, blonde hair carved into a mohawk / mullet hybrid.. wears "tapout" jackets everywhere he goes no matter what it's like outside..

if i saw "that guy" driving the same car as me i'd feel a bit gutted personally..

then again that's coming from me - a dude that drives a freakin soarer.

but yes - general consensus is as follows:

toyota engine are better than nissan engine

sooo engine wise it's end of story there..

but things i'd like to add..

mark2 looks MUCH better and classier than chaser

the toyota auto "sludge box" is actually a real pleasure to drive.. it's not messy at all..

the chaser interior is butt... not much different to R34 sedan interior.. just saying i don't really like either interior..

if your budget can afford it - i recommend stretching it out to a JZX110.. if you can..

^^^looks a lot nicer than the chaser IMO

..and to summarize what i was saying about interiors..

Saw another Chaser tonight at Gran Turismo. The guy there seems nice...no pressure, they had an auto series 2 chaser with a TRD kit in pearl white which was hot as. Just arrived, HKS intercooler + pod, unknown catback zorst, boost controller...65000km?

Listed price is $13999. Wonder if I can get them down to $13k...

    • Ok guys thank you very much. GCG highflow it is then 🙂
    • forgot to mention that when it does this it does not kill the engine, but I have not kept the pedal down long enough to let it, as I see no reason to beat up on it as its got to be something simple, small and dumb causing this.  And as soon as I let off pedal, the engine returns to its normal super smooth operation and rpms re-stabilize quickly, once below 4k.
    • neither stumble or cut really seem to be an appropriate term....hard to explain its like a rev limiter but at 4k, but it violently shakes engine and entire vehicle as the rpms will not rise over 4k, even with slow acceleration. as soon as it hits 4k, it sounds like entire spark is lost entirely. plugs were 1.1 which I used as such, but later put in new plugs gapped down to .8 changed back after issue arose when I replaced the coils, still does it with either plug gap...damn and it was all running so good.
    • Oh how times have changed! I actually lean it out relative to my water/methanol injector duty cycle. The methanol adds a lot of fueling and you can then lean it out even more due to reduced knock.
    • Yeah my thoughts are the same, a well thought out WMI setup, would be slightly ahead of just straight E85 and you're also chemically intercooling the charged air, dropping it even further. This is why you need to add so much more fuel as soon as you spray. I remember someone taking me through their set up before (Dennis, has a R33, lives around Cabramatta - no idea if he's still around on this forum). He would target AFR 10:1 on 98, then as WMI ramped on, AFR would lean back up to 11:1. Amazingly, he did this all through his PowerFC, a relay to cut power to his EBC solenoid if there was not enough line pressure on his WMI kit. And of course, if there wasn't any boost made above gate pressure, you wouldn't be accessing the load cells with heaps of timing for WMI. One downside to that rudimentary setup, once the WMI came on, the EBC would unleash the dragon, and of course all the timing. Tyres would fry lol.
