Now that's my kind of interior. Clean and stock.

None of this..

devon-gtx-supercar-t-6_460x0w.jpg

No pointless tachos/dials/guages

136783d1231804741-what-kind-of-interior-mods-hmmm.jpg

And no annoying colors..

Just pure, factory perfection.

And that gear-stick is orgasmic, iunno I've got a thing for stock and sensible.

As for debate about low-down power. My NA RB25DE has shit low-down power, fun doesn't start till >4k RPM, but when you're racing someone, you're rarely under 4k.

lol. skittles you're about as epic as i am. i admire you for that.

but yeah - jzx100 interior = wrank.

jzx100 engine = awesome.

jzx100 styling = cool-ish but i do worry that coming from a mazda3.. i worry you will get tired of this car quickly..

obviously the zx110 is out of your price range - but not by much... my advice is.. SAVE UP, and get a 110. you will not regret it..

:)

...dude what about a V35 sedan??

you probably wouldn't be too impressed by them but if you're looking for new and "low down" power then what about them?

you could easilly buy one and have heaps of change left over..

EDIT:

from what i'm reading you would be a perfect candidate for my experiment - i didn't think of this until AFTER i bought my soarer..

but here's what you do:

go on carsales

buy a lexus GS300 for ~10grand - try for 9.. these cars are bullshit cheap nowadays.

make sure it's black or red. cos red or black are the best colour out.

2001GS300red.jpg

then get in touch with your fellow victorian small business owner of import monster pty ltd. and tell him to get you a low km manual vvti 2JZGTE half cut of a JZS161 aristo.

then take the car to him and give him a bag of money to put the new engine into your GS300. it's a straight swap - so don't be afraid.

then get a few extra aftermarket parts here and there.. like oh i dunno maybe some OEM BMW wheels and some coilovers. maybe some series two lights i dunno ust go crazy on importmonster.

with a budget of what you would NORMALLY pay to get a chaser.. (fairly low graded import sedan with 2.5lt turbo with wrank interior..)

you get - Lexus luxury and classy styling

lexus plush LEATHER interior + features

3ltr sequential twin turbo engine + big brake kit from your front cut WITH manual transmission (if you want it, or get an auto front clip :D )

i personally would consider the choice a fairly obvious one myself..

Edited by Mr Eps

I believe the s2 chaser had a slightly nicer interior pattern... less stripey.

but yeah... great cars and i was seriously drooling over them for a while.

can anyone comment on handling and braking from factory??

So an NA 2.0L has more torque down low then a Turbo 2.5L?

You're probably right about the gear ratios...they're quite short.

pretty much yeah. the missus SSS has the same sort of gear ratios as my 33 and 180 had. below 3000, maybe 3500 rpm the pulsar would keep up or maybe even pull away. compared to my 180sx, which had the same motor but was turbo, the pulsar would shit all over it until about 4000rpm, but by that time the SSS was off in the distance (this was driving in the same style in both cars and not reving out each gear, but coming out of turns/intersections in second gear at about 20 or 30kmh in second gear and then flooring it. you'd be doing the speed limit before the the 180sx was even starting to catch at all).

mum has a corolla and in the low end i'd say it may even beat the pulsar because it has shorter gear ratios. but if the pulsar had the same gear ratios it would beat it.

As for debate about low-down power. My NA RB25DE has shit low-down power, fun doesn't start till >4k RPM, but when you're racing someone, you're rarely under 4k.

but compared to a turbo version it will have a much better low end. if you compare it to an aussie 6 or 8 then yes it will have a shit low end.

toyota motors are better than nissan motors. end of story.

ohnoyoudidnt.jpg

Surprised you got away with that one on this website lol. IMO Toyota engines are better all round, Nissan are more fun to drive.

Just test drove a GTT at Power Road....wasn't terribly impressed - maybe I wasn't used to the different throttle (the throttle/response in my mazda 3 is really responsive) but to get the car going I'd need to hit 3000prm...before then its kinda meh.

Looks like I'll be getting a Chaser if its low down torque is really all its hyped up to be!

Don't expect the Chaser to be much different, you'll still have plenty of turbo lag in fact the 1JZ is laggier than the RB IMO, but does give a harder kick once turbo/s come on. The thing with turbo cars is that a Corolla will beat you in the daily grind, if all you're doing is babying the car. Turbo cars are only fast when you let go of that clutch around 3000rpm+ and keep it above that.

379 nm of torque peaks at 2400 rpm and is perttm much flat untill past 6000

Finally, someone who describes the whole curve instead of just the peak :D

gfs mirage feels way faster round town than my stagea
pretty much yeah. the missus SSS has the same sort of gear ratios as my 33 and 180 had. below 3000, maybe 3500 rpm the pulsar would keep up or maybe even pull away.

My dad's Corolla (06 model) at low throttle (say 15%) feels a lot faster and more responsive compared to my R33 which feels like a beached whale, that is struggling to move... :D

i rekon, every one will tell you to go with the Chaser, but everybody ends up buying the R34

the Chaser is probably the better car, but the R34 just has that X factor that everyone falls for

if you use your brain you will buy the Chaser, if you use your heart you will buy the Skyline - everytime - that's why nobody has Chasers

Surprised you got away with that one on this website lol. IMO Toyota engines are better all round, Nissan are more fun to drive.

yeah i was suprised there wasn't much of a backlash, although anyone who actually knows about cars knows that the toyota engines are better than their nissan rivals. the 1jz is better than the rb25 and the 2jz is better than the rb26. that's not to say the total car is better, just the engines.

marc's absolutely right..

and i think it was birds that was saying - toyota make BETTER engines...

...but the nissan ones are more fun..

that is very true.. my vvti 1JZ is a powerful dormant lion of a thing compared to my nissan. buuuuutttt there's something i miss about my RB20DE+T setup.

it was ...this angry screaming bitch of a woman that the more you gave it... it just screamed...

...more..

....give me more, Rowan.. i like it when you do that. oh. yes...... more..

:P

dude it was an RB20. pretty much the worst of the RB engines (and up there on the list of terrible nissan engines). gutless until about 500rpm before the limiter, and even then it is only 'ok'.

the only thing rb20 fans can say that's good about it is that it revs really high. big friggin whoop. wow it can make as much power at 8000rpm as a rb25 can at 6000rpm, and at 3000rpm the rb25 will be making about twice the power of the rb20. of course your 1jz will feel like a monster compared to your ceffy. you a comparing a motor with torque with an engine with no torque. not really a valid comparison.

marc when you're done spewing your paragraph upon paragraph of close minded opinions...

it was an RB20DE+T setup.

high compression motor. still free revving. still higher torque than DET..

so it still had the torque and only had a small conservative setup for high response and not-much lag...

boost came in at about 2500rpm.. but it still had the torque of the DE head...

it was actually a very fast motor. i would never go standard 20 det. that engine was different.

to summarize. you're dumb.

anyway.. back OT. so. gonna get a lexus GS?

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
