I've never gone on any cruise with 'public' groups before so this will be the first one for me.

I generally only go on cruises with friends, or people who I trust etc so I'm also hoping like NRB that it all goes smoothly.

I'm also a slow driver so I'll probably go last :D

When I make reference to clowns, I'm not talking about our crew, I'm talking about the fact that this cruise has been posted openly on NissanSilvia. It states that they're all welcome. It's also listed in the Unofficial section of MCCR. It's this "unknown element" I'm concerned with.

Oh... my apologies, I didn't mean offence to anyone in this club - from all my time here, generally everyone here seems to be good characters.

I was not aware it was also posted on NS/MelbCCR (especially the latter who have had bad reputation, especially most recently with the R33 incident)... I hope that everything still goes smoothly, I'll judge it on the day and if I think its wise to pull out mid-cruise or something then that might happen.

Being an SAU official cruise. And some of the Nissansilva crew i know also, and have been on past cruises. We've personally had no problem with them before.

Any fools WILL be asked to leave.

We 'regulars' here at SAU run a tight operation LOL

Trust me, we'll have a wicked day, just wait n see.

:D

I believe we will... I'm looking forward to it. I just don't want a repeat head-on that occurred right behind me.

I also have some bad memories of the GOR when I had my brand new (6 week old) MY00 WRX crashed into by a bloke on the wrong side of the road. This was 2 years ago. He caused $10k damage to my car. I haven't driven the road since then, only been passenger.

Not sure if this has already been discussed so sorry if you have to repeat yourself but I was just wondering if we have involved the police in this cruise or any other cruise that SAU organises... Ive never been before so wouldnt really know.

By involving them I mean would it be worthwhile to give the local police a call to let them know were passing through as a matter of courtesy or is this just askig for trouble?

There's no need for this, as we are simply a bunch of cars cruising down a road together. There shouldn't be any funny business (as has been stated several times now), nor will it be tolerated.

I'm a bit worried about the forecast that's coming for the rest of the week though, seems like 30 degrees may be bit off now.

Ok, this is short sweet.

If i sound rude here im not, just trying to be quick and to the point krptr :)

So no hard feelings if i sound that way.

1) We will not be informing authorities we are coming, and we never have/or will be doing as such.

The police regularly read forums etc, and have been known to read these forums.

So i'm sure they are well aware of us coming anyways, just like any other Public Cruise.

2) As such, anyone here can vouch that we have never had one problem with police.

They know who we are, and we behave on the roads, they leave us alone.

A happy (and totally fair) medium has been found IMO.

3) If by some remote chance there is a problem on the day with the law. I will deal with it personally.

But be warned, if you are breaking the law, i wont be defending you.

Anymore talk of hoons, police precense or anything i will be asking the mods to remove the posts.

Thanks for your concern guys, it is always well noted... but it's all been thought about before.

:D

Hi Guys & Gals,

I should be coming if the weather holds up.

I know there are worries about the unwanted drivers, unfortunately there is no fool proof way to filter them out.

If something is Fool Proof, someone always gives birth to a better Fool :D

I am not sure if we have some Cruise rules already but if we don't maybe we should get some Cruise Rules happening so that everyone knows what behaviour is expected of them.

cya all then

Brandon

PS: NRB, see if you can drag Tim down.

Thank God R31Nismoid you said it before i did! i do not mean to be rude either BUT i have been reading through this forum wondering do any of you ppl drive on weekends or drive your cars at all???

First of all E-TAGS ok $10 and your part of one of the best crusies ever. most of the cars you drive are worth 20g's plus so dont winge. and if principle is the problem just forget it for one day ok.

Next: Police are on the road all the time if there gonna pull you over they will. simple soulution dont give them reason to.

third of all: everytime you pull your car on to the road there is a chance of an accident! as long as we all respect each other and other road users there should be no problems ok.

the last thing id like to note is, i have not seen the MCCR notice bored nor the nissansilvia notice bored but i am looking at this cruise hoping for PLEANTY of hot cars and just a great day to meet other car enthusiests (spelling???) not triing to guess whos gonna be a dick head (excuse the language) and wat club they are from.

i have no intention of offending any one with this post and i hope to see all of you on this cruise and it be a great day for all of us. thank you

nice one mate...

also to the police thing... i have on previous cruises which i organised called the police a few days before and explained what was happening and just let them know if they see a huge amount of imports that it was a car club meet and not a street drag meet and that they are more than welcome to come down... they went past and kept on going.

like u said... there isnt an issue unless u make one.

Please don't misinterpret my posts. I was witness to absolute recklessness, and don't want to find myself in that situation again. I'm looking forward to having a great day with good blokes in good cars; nothing more, nothing less.

Brandon, I've e-mailed Timbo, let's hope he wants to join us.

    • Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics
    • Yea that’s why I said ima test them with multimeter and see the reads.
    • Only at idle. Isn’t a problem when rev it seems.
    • @Haggerty This seems silly to ask, but are you confident in your ability to tune the Haltech?
    • Next on the to-do list was an oil and filter change. Nothing exciting to add here except the oil filter is in a really stupid place (facing the engine mount/subframe/steering rack). GReddy do a relocation kit which puts it towards the gearbox, I would have preferred towards the front but there's obviously a lot more stuff there. Something I'll have to look at for the next service perhaps. First time using Valvoline oil, although I can't see it being any different to most other brands Nice... The oil filter location... At least the subframe wont rust any time soon I picked up a genuine fuel filter, this is part of the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. Access can be found underneath the rear seat, you'll see this triangular cover Remove the 3x plastic 10mm nuts and lift the cover up, pushing the rubber grommet through The yellow fuel line clips push out in opposite directions, remove these completely. The two moulded fuel lines can now pull upwards to disconnect, along with the wire electrical plug. There's 8x 8mm bolts that secure the black retaining ring. The fuel pump assembly is now ready to lift out. Be mindful of the fuel hose on the side, the hose clamp on mine was catching the hose preventing it from lifting up The fuel pump/filter has an upper and lower section held on by 4 pressure clips. These did take a little bit of force, it sounded like the plastic tabs were going to break but they didn't (don't worry!) The lower section helps mount the fuel pump, there's a circular rubber gasket/grommet/seal thing on the bottom where the sock is. Undo the hose clip on the short fuel hose on the side to disconnect it from the 3 way distribution pipe to be able to lift the upper half away. Don't forget to unplug the fuel pump too! There's a few rubber O rings that will need transferring to the new filter housing, I show these in the video at the bottom of this write up. Reassembly is the reverse Here's a photo of the new filter installed, you'll be able to see where the tabs are more clearing against the yellow OEM plastic Once the assembly is re-installed, I turned the engine over a few times to help build up fuel pressure. I did panic when the car stopped turning over but I could hear the fuel pump making a noise. It eventually started and has been fine since. Found my 'lucky' coin underneath the rear seat too The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44&t=6s
