Interesting, good to see an official explanation on it. Surprised it wasn't kers related

me to, i thought it was a battery fire/ explosion (having seen them explode it the past)

i didn't know that they have air power valves, does anybody know if they are air powered open and closed or if they use a cam to open the valves and then the air to close the valves?

Helmut Marko has revealed that Daniel Ricciardo will most "likely" replace Mark Webber at Red Bull - but it won't be next season.

With Webber on the verge of signing a new one-year contract with Red Bull Racing, Ricciardo, who made his F1 debut with HRT at the British GP, is set for another season with a lower ranked team.

However, the 22-year-old can look forward to a bright future with a Championship-winning outfit as Marko says he'll most likely take Webber's race-seat when the older of the two Aussies calls it quits.

"Mark Webber will stay with us for another year, and then he will decide what to do in his career," crash.net quoted Marko as having told the Italian media.

"Red Bull will decide who takes his place, although it is likely it will be Ricciardo."

yeah buddy

That's what alonso thought of hamilton back in '07, we'll just have to hope by then ricciardo can bring it to vettel. If he's aggressive, and he's a young aussie male so he probably is, he might be enough to push vettel out of his comfort zone.

hards are goooone ferrari must be happy

Having announced that they won't use the hard compounds in the next three races, Pirelli have now confirmed that they are dropping the tyre completely.

Pirelli announced after the Hungarian GP the compounds for the next three races with the medium and soft compounds being used at Spa and Monza and the soft and super softs at Singapore.

The Italian tyre manufacturer's decision raised some eyebrows as it is well known that Ferrari especially struggle to get heat into the hard tyres.

Pirelli, though, were quick to deny favouring the Italian stable but may have to issue another rebuttal after Paul Hembrey confirmed that the hard compound would not be used again this season.

"I don't think we'll see the hard compound again," Pirelli's motorsport boss told Autosport.

"I think it's probably too hard and that the medium is proving sufficiently robust for the aggressive circuits we've still got to come. So don't think we'll be going the hard route."

He added: "Probably next season the medium will become the hard. We'll probably slot something in between the current softs and mediums - We want to keep about one second between each.

"The super soft and soft gap is about right to be honest, because you've got a 1s speed advantage but you've got a clear degradation and limitation on use.

"If we could replicate that now with a new medium and a new hard then I think we'll be well placed."

Hey guys meed some help

Missus is getting me a 4 corner pass for melb 2012,

But the brabham stand (the most exxy package) is where id b sunday, but it doesnt look to be a fantastic spot?

I

Was in piquet stand last yr, (crn 4) and was nice and slow so u could see them.

Where are all u guys sitting and have sat b4? Any tips?

And where did u get ur pit walks from??

brabham is a good stand. inside of T1 so you're almost guaranteed a first lap first corner acco. plus that's usually a good passing spot up the inside of T1, hold it on the outside through T2 then hold that line for the inside of T3 and job done.

yeah the cars come in hot down the straight but T1/T2 is a fairly slow chicane type of thing. you will see plenty.

sounds like a plan!

just fox tickets yeh? ill harass them for the pit walk. hopfully ill get in! did u get an extra ticket for that or anything?? and is it on sunday the pit walk?

thanx guys :)

saw shuey have a fairly quick gravel slide last yr in piquet. good times! should organise to catch up as a group and go for a sniff around the place, plenty to 'see'

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the 2025 build re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I quite rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.

    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
