Everyone loves the sl2 cause of intrenet yabba..there is no real results yet so few of us decided to try it, now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon before we has results...

Sl2 will probaly only do around 260_280. On pulp..thats all we ever expected, and all the stock manifold can really deal with comfortably...what, you expected more??

Yeh its crazy people seem to think these td06 things are a new thing...

I was trawling yahoo japan auctions for months before this thread looking for a genuine Trust SL2 or T67 rb25 kit then along came Simon pushing kando the great! :)

Keeping true with our bang for buck theme here a very interesting comment was made in the following thread:

Ebay steam pipe maniofold thread

Noel is a high end user and clearly approves of the item, the price is also great. This could be a good combo with a kando, again making the T67 option even cheaper.

I may look into getting one for my SR

Sean from Allstar who tunes my car grabbed one of them for a slapper/thrasher build. The quality and welding was ok but the design of the manifold leaves a lot to be desired. The angles of the runners merging and wastegate exit were average at best...

He never ended up using it because he sold the car (I should ask him where it ended up) and if it was ok but he wasn't too keen on using it.

It's not going to be close to a decent manifold but if it does the jobs reasonably then they are a bargain :)

i remember seeing a picture somewhere of the merge collectors, and they were of the same quality/design as of the cheap chinese s/s high mount manifolds.

That's what I was trying to get at, they do have the advantage over the stainless that they should be more sturdy and not crack/break

I guess the idea is for ease of fitment and to uncap the stock manifold.

For me I would happily whack a kando on a china SS manifold if I knew it was not going to crack.. these kind of fill the void.

By no means do I suggest them as a 6b replacement :) but hey im sure they work about as good as a china SS without the cracktastic outcomes.

I figure if you are going aftermarket manifold you want it to be an improvement over stock so why get some shitty design with bad angles?

they will work, but it could work better

$300~ebay job Vs $1100 6boost

if it does the job, ill be happy to spend $300 as it will definitely be an improvement over the stocker.

Oh god the war begins again stock vs aftermarket manifolds. Iv bought a eBay manifold ONCE and I ended up cutting it up and turned it into a screemer pipe and it actually worked very well haha.

LOL you mean you made the whole manifold into a screamer pipe or you added a screamer on?

The first one would be funnier lol!!

how do you know that?

did you not read the thread ?

ill post it here in case you missed it where fineline fitted one to his car, i don't see a stock manifold hitting 500hp?

I'm using one of these manifolds on the gtr. It came in a package deal from an expatriot kiwi with a new turbo.

My first thoughts were the same as yours, doubt as to the quality, I showed it to a couple of mates in the welding and fab game and they gave it the thumbs up so we went ahead and bolted it on.

Its done a few k now and is about the best bang for buck mod out there. zero problems, perfect fit, no restrictions when we tuned it.

We took the tune out to 500 whp before turning it back to a safe 450 whp for safety (stock bottom end)

I wouldnt hesitate to buy another if I needed it based solely on my experience with the current one.

theres always a cheap way and an expensive way to go about things.

like i said, it may work ok for $300 but for $1100 item, it will work better.

    • Sounds good Hmm suppose the main thing is, how much do you care about this car? The filler doesn't make for a very good water barrier lol. If there was a tiny little bit of rust forming now, that in 3 to 5 years time becomes obvious under the paint (starts to bubble up), would it bother you?
    • I already have the ability to datalog the voltage... what I can't do is correlate it to what the gauge is showing when I'm looking at the data at a later date. Or something like this. Except getting the oil to 125C+ involves me going 200+kmh at the track so you can imagine this is a little tricky unless I do something like note what the voltage is when I am at the top of 5th gear so I have a point to reference on. Drove car today. O2 still reading richer because hopefully not a leak instead of massive restriction I've introduced. Car really doesn't sound like a LS. It's quite strange. Pulled a bit of fuel out up top. This does potentially explain why my spark plugs looked like the car was running pretty over-rich. If I was tuning it to a ~12.7 which in reality was far richer than that in the past. It will be handy to have the dyno WB to compare my WB to to compare notes that's for sure. At this point I'm happy to just sit in the passenger seat and tune the thing given I've got about 7 million hours on the platform lol.
    • Yeah I understand you have to pay for an updated map or subscription service or something. But I can't even find a current map for Australia. My map is dated 2017, but didn't this car version still sell in Australia until 2021?   Also, just as an aside, the navigation system warns you of traffic incidences ahead.....why would they include that on a map they knew is not receiving live information. I am forever going to be warned of an incident that probably existed for 30 minutes 8 years ago.
