yup, sounds the same

got pics, looks nice, they are getting a german shepard soon

I reckon there are much better buys out there, that's for sure. I have mine displaying GPS 98% of the time & playing music from USB or Ipod. I've never tried playing movie files (I guess I can use the TV tuner for that) & I've had similar erroneous performance with BT as well. The other thing is I can't get some DVDs to play because of their menu structure, so it's probably great value for <$700-$800 but otherwise I'd buy something else.

Pretty flash for a people mover tho  .

I'm impressed with my Clarion. For $500 it does iPod, DVD, CD, MP3, AV-in and the BT support seems pretty good, on my Android phone anyway.

Like you said Leon, you can always use your tuner for movie files. I got one of those on the weekend from Brad, and he wired it all up for me. Pretty impressed so far!

Couple of little bumps at first. Learnt to leave the volume on the tuner to midrange, because if you set it up too high the audio will just clip and sound average.

Do you know if there's a way to alter the colour/contrast on the factory screen, or through the tuner? Mine is a bit too orange.

Ryan press the bottom right button on your dash. It will show you the contrast menu. What have you decided with the handbrake? I have thought of a circuit using a relay and the amplifier trigger to turn it on. That black box you were looking at would mean taking the dash out again I think.

P.S I was impressd with your clarion aswell.

ok my head unit is now wired in, tuner to the aux input, all working and extremely happy!!

i can operate the aux and still have the ipod plugged in :)

i guess you guys cant due to the optical drive taking up one of the 4 selection points on the screen. so it changes the USB/ipod one to AUX when nothing is plugged in.

me=happy as!

just gotta get a wire down to the rear to activate the aux input to the tv tuner so i can show ipod videos on the screen.

The guys at Clarion told me that shouldnt be happening, and to take it back to Autobarn and get them to look at it.

They also told me that Autobarn should be able to give me the unlock code, so I havent ordered the black box yet. Like you said Brad, software solution will be best, so I'll keep on that for now. No hurry really.

Did you look into the wireless cameras? There is one which has Xtrail specific mounts pretty cheap, was thinking of taking a punt.

why on earth did you do that???

its like swapping a stagea for a falcon wagon

haha I thought the same thing!

Why do you guys say that? the eboost 2 has heaps better functions than the profec b????

a falcon probably has more functions than a stagea, but that doesnt mean it does any of them better!

when it comes down to it, an EBC can have a million functions, but youll use it on the high setting all the time. after its set, you wont touch it again.

I fell better now....I thought I was the only one to do that.

Well being that my car is currently standard i had 2 settings low boost 10spi and high 14.

I run around with it on low all the time! just sometimes felt like putting it on 14 and throwing it around corners sideways!

i wish i could be one of those people who have a boost controller :(

don't you have one!!!!!!!....yet another reason why you are not even close to being AWESOME like Ian and myself.wave.gif

there is a cheaper way to regulate boost. dont open the throttle as far and dont rev the engine harder than you need to.

ive never understood why people have 2 or more boost settings. if one is for rainy weather, just dont accelerate as hard. its quite simple.

iaiaiaiain for once in my life i think i actually agree with you on this!

Verms this is NO attack on you or anyone in particular.

if you (anyone) cant control boost via your right-foot, then its time to do an advanced driving course.

i drove my S15 around with no boost controller on it at all (ie maximum boost from the turbo potentially) for over 2 weeks. didnt blow anything up! im also not that good a driver and i managed it

    • I guess when I say it's a POS I mean.. the solution and the stuff has the capacity for maybe... 1 spot. You know, as a spot cleaner. What I really *want* is the ability to do an entire car, all upholstery, all carpet, mats, all seats, door card inserts, A pillars, roof liners, etc. In one go. I get lured by all the jank that comes out and think "I'd like to be able to clean to that degree"
    • I've got one (not the car one, the domestic spot cleaner one, which is basically the same jobbie) and have driven it hard for hours and hours at a time. Grimy sofas, 6' floor rugs, etc. I'd blame your specific example rather than the whole category. I haven't used mine in the car, because.... you know, it's my car. So there is no-one else's ball sweat in the driver's seat, there's no kid food/drink spills or hand prints inside because they've never had an opportunity to put them there. You know, basic, standard Skyline rules.
    • I normally run with I think a 10mm, and definitely use the second handle you can add to a drill. They hurt when they bins up!   For the crush tube, once all subframe is clear, I'd try some stilsons and see if I can get it to start to twist.
    • Probably because they couldn't, because the use of the variable resistor to create a "signal" in the ECU is managed by the ECU's circuitry. The only way that VDO could do it would be if they made a "smart" sensor that directly created the 0-5V signal itself. And that takes us back to the beginning. Well, in that case, you could do the crude digital (ie, binary, on or off) input that I mentioned before, to at least put a marker on the trace. If you pressed the button only at a series of known integer temperatures, say every 2°C from the start of your range of interest up to whatever you can manage, and you know what temperature the first press was at, then you'd have the voltage marked for all of those temperatures. And you can have more than one shot at it too. You can set the car up to get the oil hot (bypass oil coolers, mask off the air flow to oil coolers, and/or the radiator, to get the whole engine a bit hotter, then give it a bit of curry to get some measurements up near the top of the range.   On the subject of the formula for the data you provided, I did something different to Matt's approach, and got a slightly different linear formula, being Temp = -22.45*V + 118.32. Just a curve fit from Excel using all the points, instead of just throwing it through 2 points. A little more accurate, but not drastically different. Rsquared is only 0.9955 though, which is good but not great. If you could use higher order polynomials in the thingo, then a quadratic fit gives an excellent Rsquared of 0.9994. Temp = 2.1059*V^2 - 34.13*V + 133.27. The funny thing is, though, that I'd probably trust the linear fit more for extrapolation beyond the provided data. The quadratic might get a bit squirrely. Hang on, I'll use the formulae to extend the plots.... It's really big so you can see all the lines. I might have to say that I think I really still prefer the quadratic fit. It looks like the linear fit overstates the temperature in the middle of the input range, and would pretty solidly understate what the likely shape of the real curve would say at both ends.
    • I got a hand held bisssel one and it's a piece of shit. Doesn't work for more than about 5 seconds. So much so that I nearly refuse to believe any wet dry vac actually works or has enough suction to clean the carpet of a car. I'm discouraged as all the good ones are $300+ for an unknown result. I saw MCM did a Ryobi video where they use this thing: https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/stick-vacuum-cleaners/18v-one-hptm-brushless-spot-cleaner-tool-only Anyone have any experience actually using a tool like this when not paid to showcase it?
