there is a cheaper way to regulate boost. dont open the throttle as far and dont rev the engine harder than you need to.

ive never understood why people have 2 or more boost settings. if one is for rainy weather, just dont accelerate as hard. its quite simple.

Usually dual boost setups (Hi Low) are for daily driven/drag (High) and track use (low).

For race use, temperatures get hotter, engines are more stressed and most of the time it is better for the engine to run when highly stressed on lower boost because you have the safety margin. Therefore a low/high boost setup does make sense.

For everything else, right foot is the perfect control! :thumbsup:

One other reason I am a fan of EBC's is the ability to link the boost to speed or gears. Once you get over a certain speed it kicks the boost higher. This is great for cars which have stupid amounts of horsepower and weigh nothing (kind of like a Datsun 1600). 1st gear is useless unless you are running around 10psi or less. So if you have a 17psi Disco potato pumping out 220 rwkw, you just limit boost in 1st until you can USE the horsepower. (like 3rd gear or something :devil:)

Well my issue was that i had to get a boost controller as my 26 running standard boost and standard computer only have 100ish kws atw. it was only running like 4psi boost. I have since got a power fc and a boost controller to get it running 180ish kws at all 4 on 14psi! make sense!

Verms this is NO attack on you or anyone in particular.

if you (anyone) cant control boost via your right-foot, then its time to do an advanced driving course.

i drove my S15 around with no boost controller on it at all (ie maximum boost from the turbo potentially) for over 2 weeks. didnt blow anything up! im also not that good a driver and i managed it

Verms, I think you need new actuators, not a boost controller. The spring is just too weak.

You can use a compressor to test the opening pressure but that doesn't take into account the pressure behind the wastegate puck in the manifold. If they crack at 10 psi, they should run around 7 psi on the road. You should have around 3mm of preload on the actuator arm also, add washers if needed under the actuator where the mounting screws are.

bought some 33gtr wheels for it ,sold the autech's to a mate

bought some gtt brakes for the front .

and bought a series 2 dayz front bar for $100

Scott helped install the Silkroads Coilovers on my car last night.

The OEM suspension was stuffed...well the shockers were. Took it a few minutes to extend back to its original height after being compressed :wacko:

Anyway the we kinda followed the instruction manual's heigh adjustments. The damping rate was adjusted to medium for front and rear.

The last thing I hear from Scott as I drove off was "Woh that's low"...

It was dark so I couldn't see 100% how low the car sat; went for a drive up Mt Dandenong with a friend in his S5...OMG what a difference. The car was like a friggin go kart...we did 5 runs. Sooo much fun...

Yeah it was a tad bumpy but I'm loving at for the time being...might adjust it to soft later on...if I ever get sick of the bumpiness...:rofl2:

I bottomed out a couple of times on Mt Dandy...weird I thought...I can't be THAT low...

Checked it out this morning...now I know why....I probably had 50mm clearance from the ground to the lowest hanging part of the exhaust...hmmm

The extra camber isn't helping either >_<

Faark, the back is low, could definitely come up a bit, front looks ok.

Agreed, thats what mine looked like when I tried the V35 springs; back looks lower than the front!

I went to turn mine over today, battery was flat :closedeyes: threw the charger on it for half an hour and it came good. Took it for a drive down to the servo to put some air in the tyres - back looked a little flat.. My god it was; the BP machine read 15 psi on it :whistling:

Got to see the sway bars today; feel free to commend your son on successfully entombing mine in packing tape Dale. Took a stanley knife to it, worked a treat - tore off in A4 sized pieces :thumbsup:

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve. 
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
