Really? Care to elaborate? Mine pretty much sits on just over half way in 40+ deg heat in peak hour.

Well, on my informeter, on a 40ish day mine will run 96+ degrees, peaking at 104deg in traffic; and the needle never went over halfway.

So I'd question the validity of using the needle for evaluating actual temps as the resolution of the gauge is quite poor.

I'd much rather see nothing over mid 90s as a peak and mid 80s on the move.

I see much the same, even with the tripple pass mishimoto, the stock thermostat hovers around 90 on average. Nothing wrong with that, the clearances are designed for it. I did notice the oil temps shoot up after a spirited drive through the hills, even with the cooler. I would be more worried about that if you plan to add power.

Doesn't the informeter use the temp out from the sensor in the block, which goes to the ECU? This is the same sensor as used by the gauge?

What sort of temps does the oil temp get up to Scotty? Anything crazy?

That was a m35 one yeah? Anyone know if v35 and m35 are identical?

I got mine from parafield radiators. the v35 are the same if they are auto.

They had koyo in stock for 350-400 from memory

My race radiator was about $250 delivered....was great on the track kept the water temp at around 86-90 the whole time. The other cooler you need if you go on the track is the power steering cooler...I boiled mine in about 6 laps

Your was a China jobbie wasn't it? You had to mod the filler neck / top tank yeah? Not too worried if I have to carve out the rad support, I think the more cooling capacity the better.

I'd rather have the thermostat opening and closing in winter, than watching the temps spiralling out of control and having to baby the shit out of the car in summer because it's on the verge of overheating constantly when you lean on it. Even in mid 20's weather it gets up around 94 deg when you give it a sustained hiding or some decent uphill.

My GSXR1000 gets up to 102 deg in traffic in hot weather (37-40+ deg), but as soon as the fan comes on, or you are going more than 40km/h the temp dives down to the low 90's. That's what I deem acceptable.

You need airflow, but you also need enough core area and liquid volume to store & shed heat effectively.

The OEM rad doesn't have enough of either.

I was surprised to lean a little while ago that mid 90's Magna's run a Power Steering cooler...:blink:

Considering the Koyo option from the states is around $430 it's going to be hard to beat I think. That said if there's a 100% guaranteed drop in and everything fits perfectly option I'd be tempted to spend a bit more..

It would be worth asking Streeter if you had something else you could drive around in.

Go see Tonkins. They said theyd measure up and make sure it fit 100%. If you go find out part number amd how much because Ill want one before summer, might order two at trade price. See what they say.

Dropped into Tonkins tonight but the two fellas there told me to come back tomorrow "while the boss is around". Flipped through their parts catalogue but couldn't even find anything for a V35.

Almost ready for my Gymkhana trip, probably order BCs, fit them up then get it wheel aligned and the adjustable toe arms fitted. Also looking at getting Brad to help me put in a pair of headrest monitors for my back seat passengers.

I did a half tank last night, at $1.61 p/L that was all I could justify. Shoulda bought on Tuesday! >_<

Your cars white, it doesnt show the dirt like a dark colour. Mine had gone probably 2 months without a wash :ninja:

I guess aiming for around 8am? Far too early for a Saturday. Given they wanted to run all the AWD's first, and theres still a few gaps early on - Id suggest we may get bumped 'earlier' to fill those gaps.

So Tonkins don't recommend alloy ones at all. I brought it up a few times and every time he just told me to replace it with a standard one. His main argument is that they cost lots of money and if they leak they can't repair them.

FYI: Koyo V2588 from Street to Track for $545 delivered, Mishimoto MMRAD-G35-03 $475 delivered.

Still not sure what to do!

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed 
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
