Got me one of these....... Aha yes I did

Will be a while till its on, as I'm waiting till I see my knee specialist at the end of the month. My last visit was..........lets just say less than encouraging.

Still, I'm soooo happy I bought it. :woot: :woot: :woot:

Nice.....I like it!

Detailed mine, and put it under a car cover again (sigh... I wish I had a garage: that way I could actually SEE the car when its not in use!). Pretty sure I'll be whipping the covers off again soon: the weather's starting to get nice and chilly again!

Had my AFM die on me. Boosting up a hill the power just cut out completely, it would barely idle and wouldnt rev. Fortunately i managed to limp the car home by disconnecting the AFM.

Fearing an expensive replacement was on the cards i soaked the AFM with some contact cleaner, let it sit over night and then tired it out in the morning. Amazingly the engine started up great, idled perfect and drove fantastic. In fact its driving better then ever, i went on a 100km drive this arvo with a whole bunch of blasts of the throttle. Fuel consumption is better and revving feels a lot smoother.

I'd recommend giving your AFM a clean even if its functioning well. Next weekend i'll try cleaning the wife's V35 AFM which is working fine to see if it shows an improvement

Serviced the car last night, oil (trying ULX110), filter, replaced belts, air filter and spark plugs (NGK)...... My car had a slight miss under big load and my economy was pretty average (6/7km per litre) One of my coils was covered in oil (the side that I had my rocker cover gasket changed under warranty) .......needless to say I was pretty impressed. Also I had 3 different kinds of plugs in the car NGK Denso and some wierd jap one WTF, all finger tight (washers on bottom of plugs werent even crushed)

Wat? Your kidding, dealer serviced?

Thats a job I would be doing myself, so you can check the plug tubes are clear of oil. They wouldn't even tell you by the sounds of it...

I service my car but haven't done the plugs until now.....I am a qualified mechanic, but when the car was in warranty period (3 months) I got rocker cover/ srs light/ swaybar links/ disc machine blaa blaa done, As I figure I am paying all this money, I am not working on my daily when I don't have to.....

Also when I got it onto the hoist i have noticed I have a couple of very bald (camber) rear tyres and most of my bushes in the front need replacing, so at last I have a reason for changing wheels and tyres instead of the chrome gayness. Will also be needing bushes ASAP

Now just talking to the guys that did the warranty work. They did the outer rocker seal and the inner isn't serviceable (around the spark plug tubes) and you need to buy a new rocker cover or sealant the shiz out of it and cross your fingers? I take it they warp?, anyone had this problem before? Someone has had a go at the sealant already (as one of coils also had sealant on it).....

I did it but I wouldn't recommend using too much sealant in there, probably best to find another rocker cover, new if possible, but they were over $200 I seem to remember and would have to come from Japan. The plug tube seal isn't replaceable.

Awesome.......I wouldn't bother with a second hand rocker as mostly likely would have/will warp.....I am getting a few quotes on rockers covers now..... but this is money I would rather be spending on suspension or exhaust or on my race car......

Will report back with quotes

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
