Great video. Had me on the edge of my seat, nice work Stuart. Looks to be a little more sorted now, with grip and/or setup?

Thanks Duncan

Sorting is - not happy, slow!!

Got car square - Having issues with reset, starting to peave me a bit - a minimal change in shock pressures, huge overall setup change - still got same springs and bars as Wakefield, just not happening with square car

New Dunlops at QR, didn't get what I was looking for especially lap 3 race 1, left front deparated big time at turn 3. Vid soon.

Race 3, turn 1 - jumped on the brakes - front right brake hose decided to have departure. So overall - although off the pace was disappointed and happy to finish 2nd and 3rd and 2 DNFs

Soooo, I bought an AU Supercar, to get away from tune issues LOL thats motor racing and Irace no dents - were'nt they lucky. Too offs but not my fault

Ball to drive but - too much shit to change for setup - havent touched 95% yet and so many issues:

Rear bar up, rear bar down, brake bias up / down. Springs up / down. Rebound up down high and low. Bump down high and low aaaaaahhhhh untouched yet

For 30 years I thought I could set a car up for a race track, I cant use a computer at all - thats Karens job and little brother builds em I think I am gunna start a new apprenticeship. Nup, give me a couple of months I am sure I can sort it

If not - we are gunna have a used car sale including Motorbikes, speedway bikes, 2 x skylines and a supercar.

Special thanks to Steve Ingwerson for a loaner gearbox for us to run QLD - much appreciated and the biggest thanks to Image Racing - after sales support is second to none, special thanks to Terry and family

Yep Dunc - Shock Pressures actually, struggling but getting there

Anyways, here's some brain fade and other bits and pieces from QLD.

Damn that R32 GTR is quick! I thought your V8 Supercar was awesome, but you'd have to be impressed with that R32!!!

Any specs?

Yeh, the EVO was hanging in there as well??!?!? Is the engine fresh? Personally I would be shifting the thing way off max revs just to look after it and not incur rebuild costs :) Not too many wrecker Supercar engines getting around for $600 :)

Great vids. Thanks for posting

I've never seen anything like that GTR absolutely leave a V8 supercar for dead like that.

From the one of the other vids, I noticed Stuart noted something like "V8 supercharged skylines brakes work".

So not running RB26/30 but possibly LS2/3 with f**king big blower???!!??

Hi Mark

Not sure if its LS2 or 3 will check with Joel Knott, Joel's Father has been building top race cars and engines for years from go -karts to supercars!!

And as far as leaving supercar for dead - was less than a second in overall lap time - and I am working on it.

Don't like to say BUT our car has actually done 1.14.5's - so the driver has gotta bit of work to do. We have had a bumpy ride on the home front - since purchase but I guarantee watch this space!!

Hi All

Had a play a bit earlier than planned in Shannons Nationals over the weekend.

New brake rotors had major issues, pedal pulsation over 20mm.

Setups getting closer, all in all - happy with weekend, continuos 1.01's under race conditions

Looks to me, to run in top ten you need another cheque book for panels.

Some of the top cars are something else compared to our old girl.

Some small panel work to do front splitter etc, little bump in race 3.

Results attached.

Cheers

Damn that R32 GTR is quick! I thought your V8 Supercar was awesome, but you'd have to be impressed with that R32!!!

Any specs?

Wowzers that thing is quick!

Great vids Stuart. Car looks and sounds great. Keep us updated.

Agreed, wether the gtr is an overall faster race car or not it is freakin brutal in a straight line.

Keep chippin away Stu, Looks like a fun car to drive.

Heres Some bits and pieces from Shannons Nationals Round 1 at WP

We were going to do this next year BUT experience tells us win lotto first lol

Didnt get practice - brake lights didnt want to play - did re-wire for qualifying and then popped new front brake hose on lap one. New front rotors had pedal pulsation 10 - 15mm

D tent spring 3rd to 5th gate went somewhere first race?

Did 3 laps in qualifying - just scraped rear of grid.

FInsihed 12th Race 1, 10th race 2 and 10th race 3 (with modified bonet and splitter)

Cheers

Hi All

Just got home from EC Supersprint.

Karen in R33 improved 7 seconds from last outing ended up with a 1.50, back on Apexi tune. As per normal idling just off idol is a bit rough, great useable power again on track 400 + at all four, works well from 3600rpm on.

I had a good start in Henry, finally beat R35 first session, second session was all keen and broke left front stubb axle off - turn 3.

Handling and brakes are now behaving, 1.37.7 had traffic and settling in.

Cheers

PS sorry no vids, somebody left the POV were we downloaded the last vids.

Hopefully, if we can find a stubb axle - will be running Sports Sedans this week coming at Wakefield and the following week, Karen running R33 Regularity at Bathurst.

nice one Stu - I take it, it wasnt wet at EC?

It rained ALL day at Wakefield for MRA :( Hope you guys have a dry weekend coming up!

We are running sports sedans Wakefield, I hope it is dry too as I think my wets were manufactured the same year as the car and new ones aren't on the option list at the moment.

3 dry runs EC packed up, dry for AU3 dont mind the wet for R33 heres a link for SBS coverage from QLD Round 1 Irace / AU

Our best coverage from around the 12 minutes

Hi Duncan

Good to catch up, shame about your little noise, car looked great in practice and you were kicking butt.

Don't forget that little vent system we spoke about, you will be surprised.

We qualified not so good 1.04s - cold and didnt have the grip required.

Race 1 still dissapointed with times, 1.02s but got 5th from grid 10.

Had to weld out a diff flange tonight, crack around bottom of flange upright - big thanks to Andrew (Mosler) for use of stick welder that I havent used for 15 years upside down. Hoping holds till we get home and attack with the Mig.

A note to all, this is an older car but since purchase we have had lots of TIG welded parts fail - hopefully tommorrow brings better times.

Cheers

see you at Wakie this weekend Stu, we are running production cars....and hoping for dry too...

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
