Hi All,

Was sitting in traffic and stationary for about 30 secods on centenial drive today (on the overpass above north strathfield golf course) when got hit HARD from behind from an old lady driving a pulsar.... As you can see from the pics below the damage to my car wont buff out

The speed she was going caused my car to hit another car in front and then another car so no idea how fast she was really going... Unlucky for me I was the first one hit.... I am trully impressed with how strong the stag is... The ladys car looks to be a ride off as there was a fair amount of front end damage (not to mention her airbag had been deployed and she had a bleeding lip)...

Anyhow can anybody recommend a decent smash repair (that can source stag parts??) preferrably in Sutherland or the Sydney region? The car still drives fine but noticed that the exhaust piping has been crushed so will need that fixed too...

Thankfully me and the 16month old daughter are OK...

Looks nasty, Is the boot floor moved at all ?

Supposedly she has insurance - just gave her a call and she is still in the hospital getting xrays....

Not sure if the boot floor has moved - cant even open the boot - Had a quick look under the car and looks like its a bit more than the rear reo that has been bent in though... Possibly a write off??

I wont comment on weather its a write off or not, Because im not in the trade, Was just curious as a friends old astra was hit in a similar situation, On the exterior it only looked like a couple of scratches but the entire boot floor had been moved, So it was a fairly large repair bill.

i don't think your odds are good mate

it will probably have buckled the boot floor

fold the rear seats down and pull the panels up off the floor

i'm guessing that a new tailgate is going to be a few thousand from nissan (some insurance companies won't use parts from wreckers as most give lifetime guarantee on repairs)

I got under the car again and can see that the floor is bent up... If its a write off then maybe ill sell some of my parts...Seems such a waste considering the time and $$ have put into it...

Redbooks valuation of a 1999 stagea is between 9,000 - 11,000

the lady's insurance should pay you out and you may be able to buy the car back

buy it back for much less that you get back from them and sell the fruit off it (if it has fruit)

you should be able to get some good money for the wreck but it could take a while to recoup all the money

locally I know where a gate, rear bar,reo is. if its structural though then it will top a $10k repair bill as who ever fixes it will have to get a chassis jig out.

you should be able to slide uder the rear of it and look at teh frame rails. if they are creased then its probably a write off :(

What a shame if it is a write off.

Always hate seeing these, but at least you & your little one are fine. That's worth more than any car.

You are right, at the end of the day me and the family are OK.

Have spoken to AAMI and will be going to get some quotes on monday - if anybody has any suggestions on a repairer (especially who has done stagea or imports before) then please let me know.

Cheers

Glad to hear you and your daughter are ok! Sorry but the car looks cactus I'm afraid (used to be in the game). Put your stock bits back on and give it to the insurance company! Genrally speaking the insurance companies will write the car off when the repair bill exceeds 50% of the value of the car (it's a bit more complicated but that's a good guide) and I can see about $7-10K repairs there....

Really? I have a feeling it will be ... will know on monday when it gets assessed...

Might start an EOI for some of my parts...$$

Sounds a bit low, my stags comp insurance from just car lists it's value as around 17 grand, even on my newest statement this year, I'm aware stags aren't selling for that much anymore but still would have thought u would get more then that

    • Yeah I also looked at Plazmaman, but, it ended up alot  cheaper getting black ones through EFI when you also added in the delivery cost
    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
