hey every one, just wandering if any one knows if power play imports are still operational, as i ordered a set of valve springs a month ago, havent heard from them since they got the money, wont respond to emails and their phone is dissconected

Not responding to my e-mails either

Yoou used to hear good things about this shop, I never dealt with them as I thought they were too pricey, but they had some happy customers.

In more recent times I am seeing on here that people have had problems with them.

Its pretty poor taking money from people once you know you can't deliver. I am sure they would have known a week or so before they closed down.

I too, bought something on Jan 18, was given a 10 day eta (all was fine, and so on).. tis now March 23. Tried to call, and phone is disconnected.

Its also entirely possible they are just having problems with their phone :P

dk, i rocked up a week ago in the middle of the day just because i was in the area. place looked deserted, dust gathering in the shop etc,

own story is bringing my non boosting turbo there (wasnt making that swoosh sound..yes i know im a noob) anyway both brothers looked at it and told me i needed a new turbo.

booked it in for the week after but in the meantime a mate had a look and told me it was just the actuator flap/gate that had come loose. he fixed in five minutes with some basic tools. pretty much ruined the place for me though im sure they have done some good work in the past.

met the girl who seems to run the place at a few track days and she was always friendly, so mixed emotions hearing of their demise.

i just got my parcel after a month and a half, and it took an email, saying i will be contacting consumer affairs and possibly taking legal actions, it was express posted within the next two days, my advice is, look some where else

No a parts shop mate.. And with pp there is never anyone in te shop anymore. No one goes there. They are too pricy and the service has gone down hill. Wind back maybe 3 years ago and things were not so bad :-). Sad to see what happens to some people :-( and yes i would deffinitly recommend using the consumer affairs/ department of fair trading card as that may be the only way you will see your orders.

its pretty sad really, but I no longer deal with powerplay. I have bought 4 cars through them over the years previously though, and Ali is the most honest and thorough mechanic I have ever dealt with. But these days too many people have paid but not received goods.

Ask Christan that runs these forums about what happened when he left a car there to sell on consignment.

Ali - what a waste of a magnificently knowledgeable technician! I hope he bounces back!

Robert was a fine one himself - and honest.

Tosh who did a lot of co-ordination left about 4 years ago and he was a real good communicator.

Great. Read this the other day and just my luck.....

About 2 weeks ago I went there to put down a deposit on some coil springs after contacting them a few days before that. They looked like business as usual and some good stuff there too.

So now you are pretty much telling me I will not get my parts, or a refund of my deposit?

yeah thats the one, so do they look open again? curious about the ongoing saga.

odd so many conflicting reports as to their honesty/reliability though it seems like the golden days are long past. must be a good reason behind this?

    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
