Hey all :action-smiley-069:

I'am seriously considering putting a rb25det in my 32gtst and just wanted to know of the pros and cons of running this engine with a apexi pfc?? Have been told its better to run a nistune??

any feedback would be much apreciated as i don't really want to change computers. :thanks: in advance

Seriously its upto personal choice. People can say Nistune, Power fc all they like at the end of they day you get and do what you want to your own car! Different tuners will say different things i like power fc because of.. I hate Nistune because of this.. At the end of the day on a modified car any aftermarket ecu is better than stockie. Just look past some of the bullshit people will say and make your own choice based on your own opinion.

Nistune is cheaper in overall terms.

However a PFC will also work fine.

The cost difference is not massive so go talk to your tuner - and pick whichever of the two they are more comfortable with - problem solved that way.

I didn't make my own choice based on my own opinion at all. I spoke to the person I wanted to tune my car and went with what he told me to get. End of the day the tune is what counts, you're not going to make any more power just running a Power FC over a NIStune. Pick a tuner, then pick an ECU to suit them.

PowerFC...I only say this because it will hold it's value better than the Nistune, come the time you sell it, given they aren't making the PowerFCs anymore. That's right, my decision comes down to what it's worth on the second hand market...because the rest of the differences between Nistune and PowerFC them are arbitrary / personal, e.g. hand controllers are cool.

Power fc is good because of the hand controller. U can monitor the engine vitals which is a great thing. But this also attracts the police.

Nistune is more cost effective but is very stealth and will get the same results as a power fc tune

you can hide the hand controller rather quickly or have it stashed in the glovebox etc

I also have a topsecret computer that came with the car from japan(its just sitting in the shed now) and was wondering if anyone had the software in aus to tune it??

I only changed to a power fc because i was told buy some tuners that no one in aus could tune the topsecret computer.

Well NIStune software is very user friendly, I know most tuners in Perth don't mind tuning it. I think they are both widely supported.

The hand controller is very useful for the Power FC, you can do the same thing with NIStune using a laptop but it's not very convenient lol. Only thing I don't like about Power FC is it has no knock control. I imagine not too big a deal if you have a hand controller, but if you don't then your engine could be pinging it's head off and you wouldn't even realise until it was too late.

Hang on a second.. what RB25? R33 RB25's can't be NIStuned easily, you need either a Z32 ECU or an RB20 ECU + window switch for VCT.

R34 RB25 can be NIStuned very easily.

As said, pick a tuner and go with what he is comfortable with. In our state, there is no shortgage of good NIStune tuners.

Also, if you think monitoring engine vitals is handy then do what I do with NIStuned and stock ECU's.. I run a carpc with Datascan and a consult cable permanently hooked up, infinitely superior to a little LCD screen.

That's not exactly hard though...

Didn't mean it was hard, just meant it's not as plug'n'play as a PowerFC or as simple as just soldering a board into an ECU as there are also some wiring changes needed for RB20 ECU on RB25.

LOL, yeah the little 40mm x 30mm (or whatever) LCD screen is a great replacement for gauges...

Pretty sure most Skyline models have active knock control but only VLT, S13 CA18 and HCR32 RB20 can display knock levels (if you have a laptop/carpc hooked up).

      You can’t see much on the other side as the lcd is there I don’t think it’s the same as the m33 beside it as the markings on top is not the same was hoping someone had a good quality photo or if they just happened to have the unit in hand, quickly take the cover off and take a photo to clearly show the marking on top to identify the diode   the unit is currently with an electronics repair shop so I can’t take another photo at the moment hopefully they are smart enough to know if it’s a zener diode or not

      I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.

      Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏

      Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
