Wish I could see this, will there be any coverage of the event or where will I be able to procure said footage?

World Time Attack will have DVD's for sale after the event but if you want more specific viewing I know GT Auto and Drew have plenty of cameras mounted on and in the R35.

Wait until they are back and it will pop up.

Until then you can see some pics here: http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=754055

It was great working with the GT Garage Team across the course of Superlap.

Also great to see our transmission components - clutches and hardware - stand up to the punishment of what is now Australias fastest GTR. Congrats on the results for your hard work :)

Thanks Martin for your help over the weekend. Was a pleasure to meet you. Your experience on these cars and quality gearbox products were extremely valuable to us. We were down in the dumps a bit after the fuel fire and it was great to have some extra support.

Looking forward to developing this car much further.

Adrian (aka the wiring and electrical guy)

Well done to everybody from GT Auto Garage and anyone else involved in this build.

Many ups and downs for the team at WTAC but we managed to get a great time from the car.

Not only that, we know the car has much more potential!

Thanks everybody for the hard work.

well done guys. big effort and fantastic result. I was cringing when it caught fire right outside our pits and even more so when extinguisher after extinguisher was emptied on it. can't blame the fireies. it's not often they get to cut loose so when there's a fire they do tend to get a bit eager with the powder!

the car looks fantastic and was a real credit to you all.

Had great weekend at WTAC. Thank you for all the sponsors and people helping to achieve this result.

Special thanks :

re the HKS CT230, I'd be keen to know just how much of the "go-fast" goodies have been removed from it? I'm not sure if you guys would even be privvy to that info?

I had a brief look over the car in Sydney, and didn't see much super special about it?

I hear the car is for sale for $130k, and I guess I'm wondering if the fast parts come in a seperate box? Or was it simply one of those "freak" cars that is quick without trying to hard? :P

Hello Ben.

No there is no tricks to the HKS CT230R except great attention to detail. It's been left how it ran on the track. There has been intercooler and radiator differences between tracks but otherwise untouched. It's all in the details and keeping the weight down.

You must understand that other cars have developed further since this car was on the track with the multitude of diffusers used these days. It would still be interesting to see what it would run against them even without further development in the last 5 years.

HKS always sets the benchmark with projects which takes others years to catch (R33 GTR Drag / S15 Silvia Drift / CT230R EVO Time Attack). All these cars were built and dominated the sport then retired. You then see others trying to still beat the records years after HKS have switched their focus elsewhere.

You are more then welcome to come to GT Auto's Open Day and have a good look over the car in detail and not under the pressure of World Time Attack. It can also be sold if the money is right but $130k doesn't come close sorry.

Cheers

Marty

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
