On Saturday we'll give things a nudge. Jez will get some time to get his head around it, see if we can get a bit more timing in at 4psi which I think we're missing. Pop the high range maf in, make sure that's scaled ok.

I want to run without the spacer, then chuck it in and actually see if it makes a difference. Then I've set a limit for myself that day at 6 psi. So will see what that nets with a safe tune. Have seen 9 psi make 300rwkw, and back it up with a 11.9 quarter on a G35, and still be on the safe side with torque. Wish the bugger would just send me his map!

I only run to 6600, the stock limit. I think you run a but higher yeah, like 7200 or something? I'll get something with the top of 4th and Kms n it.

The soft limit is set at 7300 I think and 7600 cut.

I have the option of selling my turbo and buying another, I'm just not sure if I want to yet. I really want to know what this one feels like with the 0.82 rear, but I could just drop a GTX3076 in there with little response lost and shoot higher. Cihan wouldn't be happy. I guess he thinks I have enough powers already.

Scotty, I'm sure you'd have a buyer for your 25 setup. In my opinion, the only way forward with big numbers is the 3.5 and something like a GT35 range. Simply my thoughts are we don't have the space for a big turbo set up- like the RBs run. I don't think you would gain anything by building a VQ25 bottom end- You'll run a bigger turbo and end up in lag land.

Build a 3.5, and run a good sized turbo on it, you won't need the high boost to make power, and it'll come on quicker.

That just leaves the old gearbox chestnut. Posts I've seen in the states said that the build RE box expires around 500whp. Thats a bit worrying. HOWEVER there is currently a FX35 (awd) being build by a shop that are going to try and put GT35 twins through a build RE. Very conservative estimate being 800hp. I guess there is always manual, but rwd isn't going to be fun, and awd looks like a headache- we'll see what dcdc does!

One of my mates is selling a GT3076 on fleabay ATM; shame it's a little small for what you're doing...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221018417418?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_922

After a heated discussion with Cihan quite a few turbo options were on the table. We both concluded the GTX3076 is probably the turbo of choice for a comfortable 360kw or so, still with the 1.06 Tial rear. Hope I made the right choice...

The GTX3576 was the other option but I would have to buy a new .82 Tial GT35 rear housing, plus the turbo is more expensive. Cost wise I'm better off sticking with the GT30 rear. (for now. ;))

Think E85, and some real boost in it- you'd be deep into the 400s for sure. Just have to find a turbo to do it- would probably max a GT35 out.

I'm just trying to find some GT35r turbo numbers and sheets. Most big # set ups are twins.

Flying the 3.5 flag! :nyaanyaa:

GT35R if it fits.

lol he's already 1 thou away from hitting the firewall.

i wouldnt think its worth the effort and money for 30 kw more, when chances are he'll get about 20 more with the GTX3076. he'll probably end up doing the head gasket though lol.

as Cihan said. No more it will break

haha

yeh it did. but he ended up selling it. so you might see it around. and if you see it for sale. DONT BUY IT lol. thats all ill say.

tractors pretty good. reason why im talking scott into the 3076, is because im taking the GTX3071r of his.

i think its time i started putting the built sr20 to use.

i personaly think the 2.5 is a fine engine but it depends how much pwoer do you want? you got to look into a capable trans and suporting diffs, theres big bucks i think 350kw is probably the limit for the stags its very usable and not too much i dont think but everyone has their different opinion i spose

I would never say that the 25 isn't a good motor. It's a great bit of kit, but frustrated by the ecu. I wish mine was as strong as it!

It's just my thoughts that Scotty has pretty much got to the end of what's able to be done. Maybe it'll creap over 350 with a 3076, maybe it'll pop. Thing is, with a 3.5, you'll get more power easier, at lower boost levels, with less lag, and still very usable around town. Diffs will be fine. The front diff works in a r35, so we're not going to worry it. Main hold back is the gearbox, which if I was going to do properly, I'd get from the states from the place I mentioned earlier.

It's just my opinion, I might be jaded because I got one!

just like going to a rb30!

... and how exactly would he know this? Where has he seen the power limits of a VQ25det? I certainly haven't seen or read of one popping due to reaching it's limit.

jeez someones getting a little sensetive lol.

he doesnt know this, and yes i havnt read of one pooping after reaching its limits either, but i have also not seen or read about a VQ25DET running over 350kw at the wheels. have you?

and im pretty sure no tuner wants to 'pop' a customers car

The issue as I found out wasn't the motor, it was the turbo. He didn't want to push the compressor any further. If I change up he will be fine to push a bit more out of it.

Although he doesn't think the gearbox will last. lol.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
