Motive dvd talkin out their anooous :)

When they were doin drags with GTRs on an airport tarmac.

Show me one GTR that has cracked 400 km/h!

Really if you want to get nitty gritty, Ash and I were at their last event at that same airport your talking about and they got where I came from and what fuel Ash was on wrong.

Dont believe everything you read on the net!

There was also nothing mentioned at all about any GTR hitting 400km/h @ the top of 4th.

I mean - we'd both know - given we were there, actually running our own cars

maybe they were going to use a 4 speed gearbox with super tall diff ratios, lol

had a guy tell me once that he went for a drive in a commodore where they owner said he had put a chip in it where it would do 180kmh in second gear at 2000rpm just by pressing a button...........

very very sure a skyline can hit 400kmh,

That's pretty sure. Got any proof of a 89 to 02 skyline getting there? Sure it is, just with a STUPID amount of power. Blitz had a good crack and did less than 350 km/h IIRC.

ll a skyline could crack 400 in 4th if they wanted, but only with a modified gearbox, kinda like the LMP2 cars, only use 4 speeds and have ratios that go to the 400 mark.

so technically it is possible if we are still spending huge amounts of cash, i think 1000bhp+, proper gearbox, proper aero kit it could be achieved.

but then again, there is no point to waste all that money and have a 400kmh run, rather spend that money and build a nice endurance car :D

p.s this is the tissue box, but only did 311kmh, thought it did more.....

Nuh! My bad guys!

I monged it. :(

They actually said "it has an os giken gearbox with very long gear ratios that can reach 300kmh at 10krpm at the top of 4th".

They talked it up like it was so amazing,so over time my memory went bent.

My bad guys,carry on.

if a supra can do those big speeds Just curious as to why a bored out rb26dett with big horses cant do the same even a modified rb30dett. I cant beleive the speed on that supra thats 395kmph one of the fastest things in the world. How and why hasnt the GTR competed with it, If it has can anyone advise me ?

It may not be GTR, nor a RB26, but you mentioned a nissan 3 litre,

Jun's Z32 demo car - VG30DETT ran 419.84 km/h in 1991 - record still stands today

http://www.junauto.co.jp/democar/jb-z32/index.html?en

2001, Jun attempted to beat the record with a supra (Akira supra)

aerodynamics play a huge part when you move into higher speed regions

10K in a OS box is 293 km/h which is the same as standard. 4th is 1:1... Which is same as standard. Haha. They monged it!

The first 3 gears are taller in a OS box, 4th is the same and 5th is shorter BUT you can go a stock gear (which is what I did with my OS box when I destroyed the stocker)

Silly sausages!

a year ago my mate bought a r33 gts-t spent around about 40,000 dollars on it as it was a drift car, and while on the princes hwy we clocked 354 on the speedo as he had the nismo dash and a digital speedo. so its easy enough for skylines to do.

just sayin.

mean to say 256, and it was only minor engine mods and another engine.

For minor money and mods not really. it was not at high revs either the car still had a lot more to go.

But at a radar hot spot you tend to slow down..

All it shows is that they easily have the potential and the aerodynamics arent bad either so as someone said before with the right downforce and mods (diff ratios and ecu tunes etc) the skyline will be able to match it easily.

massive difference between 256kmh and 400kmh when it comes to aerodynamics.

as above, there is a reason why the veyron needs 1000hp to do over 400kmh and the veyron supersport which has a revised aero package and an extra 200hp only does about 20km/h faster. pretty sure it only takes about 200hp for the veyron to do 200kmh, so it then takes an extra 800hp to do the next 200kmh and that is in a car designed to go that fast from word go. so don't think it's just a case of bolting on a few mods and then being able to go as fast as you'd like. moral of the story, if a skyline could easily go faster than that speed of the supra, then so could a supra tuned by someone else. what i'm really saying is that without some stupidly powerful drag car engine putting out a few thousand horsepower, you won't get a skyline or a supra much faster than 400kmh.

as for your mates 33, 2 things. for starters, if it was running stock gear ratios (or close to), then 256kmh would've been close to redline. i had access to a closed airstrip once and i managed to get my r33 up to roughly 240kmh (did require starting and finishing on grass) and that was 6500rpm in 5th gear (and that is how i calculated speed since the speedo only goes to 180kmh, but 3250rpm is roughly 120kmh, so double the rpm and you double the speed). secondly, don't forget to take into account speedo error. at that sort of speed you could expect the speedo to be out by 10 to 15kmh. even a digital speedo will be calibrated to read faster than the actual speed by a small amount. the faster you go, the bigger the difference.

Listen to this guy, you're making yourself sound stupid.

First you claim 350+ km/hr then it's 250km/hr. 250km/hr is no where near 400 and you obviously have no or very little understanding of physics.

400km/hr will never be "easy" to reach as you claim.

Lastly, if you, or your friends are going to drive like an idiot and speed dangerously on public roads, don't tell people about it, I'm sure the forum and other members don't want to be associated with this kind of behavior.

at first i thought you were having a go at me, LOL

and to your last paragraph, spot on. doing 256kmh on a public road is bloody stupid. then talking about it on a pulbic forum is even more stupid.

does slowing down really matter when your doing 250+?

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
