Ok, ,I started this thread a while ago but there were a few good reasons why I didn’t post up as originally intended.

So many of you already know about this, some care...some don't. A few years ago I promised myself I will try to catch an OS F1 race every year and at the same time try and drive an OS race track. This is my third year of trying to avoid growing up, avoid a mortgage, and run from the protracted suicide that is my job

This year was a pretty major increase in stakes....rather then hire cars and airports I figured I would go the whole way and just buy something I can thrash around in and enjoy. The short list was E36 M3, S14/15, Audi S3 and S4 plus a whole bunch of other buckets like E30 M3, Audi early 80s Quatttro goodness. After so much pain with insurance, test driving and find the right car...a childhood dream was realised :)

Its great being a simpleton. Some want a beautiful wife, house, boat....fancy car...my needs are very simple. Give me B-Grade 80s goodness and I roam the streets smiling like the village idiot for weeks..and a girl to chat to me when I am hammered. So all my hard earned went into this...

Collection from Lancaster UK

I love the thing...so 80s! Memories of JB, DJ, Seton, Bond...even Brock tearing around Bathurst in these things as a kid means they will always hold a special place in my heart.

So the Spec :)

Harvey Gibbs Built Motor

New 200 Long Studded block

Adjustable cam gears

Pectel T2 ECU with custom loom

Boost Control via Air Injectors for hard ramping

Ported Head

Garret T38 Hybrid Turbo

Full Samco hose kit

K&N Filter in std Air Box

6 Paddle Clutch

My FAV...6 POT AP Front brakes on 355mm rotors and 2pce rear rotors

18" Compomotive wheels, inc matching spare rim and yoko tyres

6 Degree Rear Beam ... the secret to trying to get the rears of these things to do their thing

Genuine RS500 front end.

Tuned to 420hp on engine dyno before being tweaked with a road tune

The car was completely rebuilt to concours condition in 2005, with all suspension powder coated, new Konis, bushes, painted undercarriage etc. So basically, I looked at a few, this thing ticked enough of the right boxes...always remembering this bad boy was built in 1987!

So, 250kms into my new ownership of the new bus...a relay fails, thermos stop working...and me stranded in a servo outside of Manchester :(

So this is where it sat at my sisters whilst a revised plan was hatched

But...dig deep....remember when you are down you have to be sure to pick something up. So a night at my sisters in Oxford going through and working out a parts list...and an early morning drive at 5am to avoid traffic and more overheating....I had a parts list, a plan...and an agenda to be in Germany in 24hrs time :)

And success...kind of. The parts from Ford were late so I ended up doing a re-wire of the cooling system and put in a toggle switch for thermos rather then rely on the Ford parts to get me on the road (untested)

So I jumped on the highway, heading for Folkestone to get the train to Calais using Eurotunnel. An absolute breeze, but expensive at around $220 and traffic on a Friday afternoon in the UK SUX!!!

On the train which takes all of 45 minutes until you arrive in Calais

From Calais I buzzed up the coast to Bruge where I canned on until Jarrod (R32Bogboy) flew into Frankfurt on Vietnam "Love you Long Time" Airlines where everyone gets off...eventually.

    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
