First off, I apologise for anyone entering this thread expecting to see some crazy youtube vid of a nissan owning something.

This topic is about the general public, the simple folk being mesmerized by Nissans. Ive been lucky enough to see this with my own eyes a few times.

i.e. I was sitting at a small cafe in a busy cafe/restaurant district recently, when a Gallardo pulled up to the lights, shortly followed by a R35 GTR. Some people turned their heads to see the Gallardo but when the GTR was in clear view people where standing up, tapping their mates to look around all the while gawking at the nissan. These were people from all walks of life and the majority by far where late 20's and up. The lambo driver was clearly not impressed too, as soon as the lights changed he took off in all fury.

The GTR however was turning left.

Ive seen this back in the day with r34 GTR's aswell.

IMO I think its about time the japs entered the super car group as they have proven themselves a worthy contender for years.

So yeah discuss/share stories.

People would have seen less R35 GTRs. I think it is that simple - rarity.

Plus there is a touch more tall poppy syndrome in Brisbane with regards to extreme wealth (Lambo/Fezz, etc).

The Gallardo is not uncommon in Brisbane - I seem to see more of them there than anywhere else (capital cities). The convertibles especially scream w@nker. But they are probably nice enough people. Haters gunna hate.

Hmmmm, I've not seen that reaction to a 35 anywhere I've been?

Great cars, but a car to make people stand up and stare or create a crowd? I don't think so.

Do you own an R35? I can't drive anywhere without attracting attention. On a short trip from the Gold Coast to Brisbane on the M1 I'll get at least 5 photo's taken of the car. A few months ago I parked it in Brisbane Cafe suburb behind a GT3RS only to return to find a group of six people standing around my car having a look at it. I pointed out the GT3 to them and the response was "Yeah the Porsche, you see heaps of them."

The R35 is still unique.

Tip: If you want to me anonymous then don't buy an R35.

No I don't own one, but I've done plenty of miles in them, and yes, people do definately take note, but I maintain they're not a jaw dropper like a Lambo. (who mentioned Porsche?)

That's just my experience. Yours is obviously different.

Who mentioned Porsche.. I did!! A GT3RS.. If you had any idea about cars you'd wet your pants if you got to see one in real life. Engineering perfection at it's best. The GTR is a Supercar and it does get a lot of attention. Ohh I drove one once and it did nothing for my sex life. Perhaps because you're a tool. Look at the thread.. Joker!!!

An R35 getting a crowd of the general public? I think not.

An R35 getting a crowd at a race event, probably yes, a lot of male attention, especially wanna be street racer attention and cop attention.

An R35 loosing a race event, very unlikely, especially the latest ones.

GT3RS is pretty much useless on the streets, what has a Porsche got to do with the topic, you are so random.

Gallardo wins on style, sound and the way it makes you feel. They are not the fastest cars, they are still quick, although not as quick as the playstation cars :nyaanyaa::nyaanyaa::nyaanyaa: lol.

And for the purpose of this topic, I really doubt an R35 would draw even 20% of the looks a nice clean, black, extremely loud Gallardo would get. Sure the R35 is friggen lightning fast, but as for drawing a crowd?????

Ok ok, you win. I know nothing about cars. :(

Good chat though!

The R35 may upstage supercars on laptimes but it has no aura of style whatsoever. The R35 is an engineering masterpiece, but I actually wish I'd bought a C63 AMG instead.

Do you really though? Whilst the C63 is no doubt a better/easier car to live with on a daily basis, the 35 simply blows it away performance and handling wise.

In fact, I'm not sure if I've ever actually driven a performance car with less mechanical grip than a C63. Have you driven one?

lol even with the optional LSD my old C63 still couldnt put the power down. It wasnt a 100% locking diff like in my M3

its a great fast sedan no doubt, and the engine alone is the soul reason why you'd buy it, but after 6 months i was over it

when a car is built around an engine only, it gets boring very quickly

plus i dont see any aura or style in a 4 door c-class. In fact it's actually quite chintzy in all the plastic chrome all over the exterior (which i would have painted if i kept it)

other than some minor euro typical creature comforts like auto wipers, self locking doors, real leather (not vinyl), the gtr for me is just as easy to use daily. In fact a little easier because i dont have to worry about someone keying it out of badge spite

What makes you say it doesnt get a crowd?

The other day i was feeling up gas when this 35GTR rolled up to buy a snack, An old middle eastern man jumps out, as i walk in to pay for fuel i heard about 3 different groups of people and a car, ranging from young people to a family. I over heard someone say samething about him affording it, i heard "woahs" and the car with ppl in it stopped paused and we watched him take off away from the servo, All i heard was this Semi deep, but almost scary sound that will make the back of your neck hairs stick out, Must of been the quite road but the echo was NUTTTTTTTTS,, ROOOOOuuuooooooooOARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!<<<< Litteraly transform this in a sound lool it was in that tone and as im about to jump in the car i looked at the other car and we both shook our heads with a grin. I think that classifies as attention!

The GT3RS was used for comparison. It's an open discussion and anyone is allowed to bring anything to the table. Eg/ that other guy brought in the AMG.

As for supercars and such being beaten by Datsuns / Nissans, I think you'll find people are less obsessed with Porches etc. and show more appreciation to a well kept Jap car, or a well restored classic.

We go to car cruises, I only gawk at KINGS Ferrari.. why? Because someone once told me that Ferraris can't be "riced", then you look at KINGS, and it looks f**king amazing.

Other than that, I'm running around taking pics of all the neat GTRs from all bodies, then going off to the 60's chargers and hotrods.

I'd pay more money to sit in a fairlady Z than I would to sit in a Lambo.

Curiously, which do you think looks more aggressive?

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
