just looked all over it and there is no numbers unfortunately :ermm:

so why dont these housings flow if they are supposedly bigger than the .63 but smaller than the .82 in theory wouldnt that be a good happy medium between power and response?????

Im lost

Mick I went over this before you bought the turbo. ARR is a ratio. There is no meaningful way to compare a non-Garrett GT30 based turbine housing with a genuine Garrett housing.

It will probably top out earlier than a 0.63 if it is an AVO casting.

Hang on a minute I just found the post.

If you just ask the supplier to swap your housing for the garrett one and pay the additional you will be fine.

Honestly, we are pretty much telling you there is no point even trying that housing and seeing how it will go. You will just void its value.

The supplier wont take it back once its used and you will not be able to sell it.

I assume you got your turbo from MTQ, just call them and explain you have changed your mind about the rear housing and would like to exchange it as it is still new and unused. Im sure he will let you send the housing back undamaged and exchange it for the garrett .82 provided you pay the cost.

If your housing is worth $400 new, and the garrett $600, pay the additional $200 then pay to send it to him and send it back to you and your laughing. No more mucking about, just do it.

but will it still make good low down grunt with the .82 cos i dont wanna have to rev its tits off it to find some fun power?

Will the E85 help with boost response?

Mtq are in wetherill park which is nice and close but i bought this turbo through boostn imports so i wonder if i will still have to go through him again or whether mtq would let me deal direct??? plus id need it before next weekend hope its do-able!

Would this give me my happy medium in terms of response but eliminating the boost pressure issues i might have with this bad flowing Avo housing that i have plus make more power than it??

Appreciate some opinions

you need to measure your turbine wheel to see if it has a 60mm turbine or a smaller cropped turbine. if its 60mm then go to mtq and buy a .82 garrett housing to suit a gt30 and sell/return your current housing.

with a .82 IW housing i'd expect to see 1bar of boost around 3800-4000rpm on a mild rb25

Yeah that sounds alright id be happy with that thats not too shabby at all from the .82! its stock other than all the usual bolt ons and it will be on E85 too

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
