Tokyo isn't too cold in winter, it's Hokkaido (which has already had snow) and the mountainous areas like Nagano that you have to be careful of.

Ha Roach you obviously never been at Fuji Speedway late Janaury with freezing cold wind blowing off Fuji...F@#king cold mate and Ive lived almost 10 years in Hellkaido.

I'm in Hellkaido now at my house in the mountains and it snowed last night.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day so I'll get some snaps.

perhaps... although I was hoping to get to the Skyline Prince museum this time, but it is closed during winter :(

Mate watch the food you eat as there is a lot of contaminated stuff about.

Dont be afraid to ask where your meat or veggies are from and if from some of the hot spot areas, give it a miss.

Jap goverment is still being extremely sly on a lot of stuff in regards to radiation so just be wary when eating out and its a good idea to buy bottled water and drink as much Sapporo beer as you like.

I think someone had a few too many Sapporos before he wrote his post

Fuji Speedway is 100 ks from Odaiba - while it does snow in Tokyo occasionally I walked to TAS from the station in a jacket and jeans last year and was fine - no need for a beanie or thermals.

looking forward to the photos - never been to Hokkaido

No beers have been consumed for almost a week.

I know where Fuji is and know that Tokes can and does get cold and especially coming from an Oz summer it can be a bit of a shock to the system.

Yep no need for thermals but when the winds out of the N-NW it can be quite crisp and brass monkey weather. I've seen snow in Chiba.

A few safe sappy cans on the way and a few nips of Jack stashed in your jacket should keep you plenty warm when watching outside events.

Didnt go last year events but been to plenty of Tas's before. 50/50 if I'll go this year but going to Tokyo Motor show in a few weeks, then Nismo and then Rev Speed @ Tsukuba

i dont understand that. yes mabye in poorer countries. but i've been drinking tap water from japan. i honestly cant see any diffrence between them.

Because of the f*kushima disaster. Check elrodeo666's link in the "6 months on" thread. Radiation is still being detected in prefectures around the plant. I drink bottled water when in Tokyo but not in Chubu. You are right about the taste though, I can't tell any difference between the water in New South Wales and Japan.

Heya all :)

I'll be there for TAS 2012, flying out Saturday night as it's my last day in Japan (after 3wks).

I'm completely free from the 9th till the 14th and would like to check out some car stuff like Nissan (I own a 32R), Toyota (I'm in production management and they are world leaders in lean manufacturing), Mazda (owned a tidy and tough RX3 and spent 15yrs playing with rotors)

Beer in Japan anyone??

Mark :)
