Good thing about commercial/industrial is they get you doing actual work straight away where as in domestic unless you're working for a relative or friend you're basically a labourer for the first year or so doing just the crap stuff like digging, cleaning up, getting tools etc.

You start tafe next year yeah? Hope you like using the reg book lol

Always heard the opposite, that you get lost in big companies and end up being a cleaner/labourer for the first year, whereas in domestic you get thrown straight into wiring up houses coz it's just u and the boss or 1 a grader etc. But yeah so far it's been good, the other guy that started with me has been cutting/filing cable tray so I'm sure I'll cop that soon enough. Gotta be done.

And I read AS 3000 before bed

yeah maybe if its just you and the boss he'd have no choice if he has no other more experienced apprentices but most of em dont wanna waste time teaching while working just want you there as an extra pair of hands

And I read AS 3000 before bed

Cute

Holy f**k Twin Turbo 300ZX's are cheap!!!

Having to pull out all the drivers side intakes and shit to get to the PS lines/pump 5 or so times did my head in but now for some reason I want one, Stockholm Syndrome?

Never filed cable tray before, makes sense though I guess haha

I'm a 2nd year at a domestic/industrial/commercial company. Mainly doing bunnings stores at the moment.

Small company = learn more

Big company = earn more

Depends what's most important to you IMO, I get the bare minimum award wage, but I learn a hell of a lot more than people I go trade school with who earn a fair bit more than me, but it's an apprenticeship so I'd rather gain as much knowledge as possible and then earn more than them in the long run haha

Summer is just around the corner. Shoulda started a lil while ago lol

I'll take a tray load. no homo.

Yeh I did start about a month or so ago, don't get me wrong I'm definately seeing results just want that little bit more, I guess I gotta work that little bit harder and eat that little bit better / more. Guess there is no tricks for speed other than that or roids as Alex said :P but then you get shrinkage amirite?

and after replacing all the balljoints and bushes on one, it ain't gonna be cheap anymore.

Agree and disagree...

Not just a case of 'what's most important', for some it's a matter of what they can/can't afford to do. I'm 25, almost 26, and have a mortgage...So domestic/small company/non EBA is out of the question for me. Sure you might learn more to begin with, and probably wire neater, but it evens out in the long run (got mates in domestic, mid size companies and the big boys) after around the 2/3 year mark everyone is pretty much on a level playing field...At the end of the day you'll learn as much as you want to learn. I know I've only been there 2 days, but I can tell the guys I'm working with are happy to teach me as much as I want to learn, and aren't just using me as a labourer.

As for the pay side of it, a 3rd year apprentice on an EBA job makes more than a domestic A grade, so unless you own the business or you're doing work on the side, there's no comparison in the pays.

My mate is 3rd year and on $40 an hour....

    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
