lol solar never pays it self off. There is no storage in the system, only sell back when there is excess. and when the sun is shining during the morning/afternoon thats the lowest rate of payment. Electricity costs more at night and your solar panels arent doing much then.

There you go! and they go plenty fast, brembos stock too!

But can I bring myself into a fast ford with a slushbox?

I guess I'll have to find one to drive and see how I feel about that.

Feed in rate is 31 cents, which would be ~6 cents more than most people are paying per kWh to buy from their provider

No storage does hurt the effectiveness of the whole thing, but if you're feeding in an excess all day because you're not home and don't have anything running, then in theory as long as you use less at night than you fed in during the day, you'll be in front.

You're still buying from them for whatever you use at night, but at less than what you were getting feeding in during the day

my old man was saying something about a cap in terms of how many hours you can feed. I dont think its 6am - 6pm of constant feeding into the system? check the fine print or ask the sales person. There's something shifty about it which they dont speak of else my dad would have got a ready made kit instead of trying to build his own...

Yeah I don't know how it all works and how much a system is capable of feeding back in, but it says you're eligible for the tarrif as long as you have a 5kw or less system, and don't use more than 100,000kWh per year, which I don't think any house would even go close to (just assuming)

My parents went ahead and got it without researching too much, so I'm trying to find out all I can now to see if it's worth it or not, and hope there's a cooling off period (it's not installed yet)

Good gearbox and a grownup car :P remember you can slap any turbo you like on it and the 4l will spool it with ease

Best part of all you don't get treated like a wanted criminal and insurance isn't a buttrape

I don't want to grow up at all!

I never had issues getting reamed by cops, it's just that insurance decided to rape me as their 'welcome back' present!

i went to qld last weekend, and when i got back on monday, there were panels on the roof. had no idea it was happening

Similar to my parents 'sept I didn't get to go to QLD...

What system did your olds get and how much? (PM if you want)

    • So for the wide band is a Bosch 4.9 correct for the Link G4+ along with a Can bus? Just get the Link gear or is generic ok too? Eg here: LINK LINK DIGITAL WIDEBAND CAN MODULE WITH BOSCH 4.9 SENSOR : KYP Performance House
    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
