Haha oh snap. Mate I went to every one in my budget range in victoria. So in pretty sure I got the best one out of Melbourne :P.

Don't be lazy. Do it yourself. You won't know how good a car is until you go look at it. Btw avoid a white s2/3 r33 gtr, that thing is idling like a bomb, and the dash is terrible!

Bam get this one. http://carsales.mobi...5&Cr=2&trecs=19

Dunno if link will work

Yeah saw that one....something about the wheels/rims gives me nightmares lol.

Also the ride height seems high does it not?

Im guessing thats stock, but it just looks weird.

Wasn't quite sure, because in the comments he mentioned "new tyres", wasn't sure if that meant new "factory" tyres or not, or if that also included rims as well :whistling: .

I know i am noob with GTR's that is why i am on here......and i didn't make this thread for you to choose me my car. It was made to see what you guys think is the cleanest and best deal for a R33 GTR on sale in Melbourne.

I think you need to do some major, major research. Obviously that one has the stock wheels and for tires. Well sorry to brake it too you, but tires are just tires.

You need to give us a criteria then don't you. Obviously you don't want a stock looking gtr. That's what I got. Might it up costing more money in the lOng run. But I'm anal and don't like not knowing what's in the car.

Also I saw a total of 17 gtr's on the carsales list. That would take you 2 weeks to go look at them all. There's one that's highly done up and the others look ok. What car are you coming from?

Do you know what you want out of a gtr? Do you know how to take care of it? For the love of god please tell that you know what engine it has!

Haha. I love my questioning rants.

My current car (which i am trying to sell) is a 2001 series 2 R34 25GT (got it on my P's, hense NA).

I want a fairly stock standard R33 GTR, that isn't thrashed, has low kms, doesn't need much work done to it. I don't plan on spending heaps of money on it, just want it to be reliable, sound good and quick.

As far as exatly what i am after:

Year: 1997-1998 model (if 1995 not too fussed)

Price: <$25,000

Colour: Black/Midnight purple

kms: Less than 80,000

Mods: Mild or factory

Do i know how to take care of it? I am learning/have friends who know a lot about skylines/GTR's.

hahaha yes it has the famous RB26 :).

I have 1996 Series 2 in Midnight Purple that I'm thinking of selling, pm me if you're interested.

Mileage is 82,000km, bog stock even right to factory boost restrictor still in place (have pod filters though)

mate do some research before you buy anything, otherwise you might find yourself having pockets with holes in them.....you dont seem like you know much about the GTR's, read up on the common problems, then maybe, maybe start looking at some, hopefully with one of your GTR knowing friend.

oh man

noob + GTR = light wallet

research, research, research.

You might like to attend some SAU drive days/cruises/dinners/poker nights/swingers parties with SAU VIC crew and see what they can tell you.

I been reading up on them for the past week or so now.

Visiting forums, google searching, watching youtube etc.

Getting the basics down atm, not so much the advanced or technical side of things yet. I am working on that though.

But you want US to pick what WE believe is the BEST value GTR on the market in said region for YOU.

You want a car? Pick any two:

1. Cheap

2. Reliable

3. Fast

Why don't you just consult you're mates with their gtr's? Unless their imaginary.

My friend is actually well known for his GTR's/Skylines, he is a member here, but doesn't post anymore as he keeps getting harrassed for advise on cars lol.

I do talk to him quite abit, but he is busy and sometimes doesn't have time to talk and given who he is, he has hundreds of people asking him the same or similar questions, so i don't want to annoy him too much.

Its more a discussion thread more than anything, just want to see what your guys thoughts are.

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
