yeah i had a similar bridgestone guy recently...trying to sell me 12 months of free crap for 189 bucks...told me its worth 1100. he was in a uniform, had some official looking book and all. told him no thanks, i work on my cars myself, and dont trust anyone to do it right. he got right up on his high horse, telling me about how its their job and they do it right.

either way, it seemed a bit strange...seeing as he showed up on my door step at 7pm at night.

my car is always locked away, even if im only home for 5 mins inbetween drives (partially for all the leaves and seeds and shit the trees around my place drop all over my car) . but this is all getting a bit crazy.

he offered me 12 months free servicing without doing anything.. to quote him "we are offering 12 months free servicing"... honestly thats all his apparent sales pitch was.. moreover this just adds to the dodgy-ness

pm sent to nightfall - the car is still parked outside my house..

Hi mate, can you also please pm me the area address?

I just moved to QLD and want to know the areas better. Thanks.

tom,

the only way that car is going to move is if they take you with it or load it.

considering I put it back together last time I made sure it won't be happening again.

I'm used to dodgy salesmen btw.

Very true. Just being proactive seeing as neesan and his mates down the road have imports.

Good thing you did that for him. Don't care if they have a $10,000 alarm.. I rather not have to spend an extra $500 fixing crap and having my car off road and my time wasted.

Glad you called him man, it was the good bloke thing to do

Guys my concern is all this discussion on the forum is they will get a heads up especially with the car moving so soon after discussing them.

isnt that a good thing? If in fact they are scouting cars and are keeping an eye on sau, hopefully it deters them..

yep! and given someone is onto the GC mob hopefully they back off a bit.

Either way, i still think a good group of us should leave a car or two in a prime location and wait around the corner for them.

We could make it a new thursday night thing

Hopefully nightfall and his old man will have most of these dead beats sorted out soon.

When living at Chermside i had 2 kids attempt breaking into my 31...

we had a heavy gravel driveway, their foot steps woke up the dog which in turn woke us up...

they heard the dog and were off faster than a flash...

sometimes simple security devices such as things than make noise can be good...

on a similar case while im here;

there is a foxtel scam going on atm also...

they come to your door, attempt to sign you up to foxtel (has shirt, cap, id, etc)

they just want your credit card details... you will not get an install, just your cc emptied of its credit limit...

fyi while on this topic... :P

also another point if selling your car, be sure to get a photocopy of their drivers licence before letting them drive...

if they have all the excusses in the world why not to give you a licence then piss them off...

mate of mine works with the police on stolen vechicle recovery (specialist with recoverys from waterways)...

anyway he said there has been a huge increase in theft via private car sales...

i mean how easy, "can i test drive please" "here is the keys, enjoy"... use caution always...

car dealers photocopy our drivers licences before we can test drive, so private shouldnt be any different...

No test pilot without deposit or serious offer would be the best bet of being safe, I think.

what area precisely were these jerk-off's in? For some reason the vehicle is sticking out like dogs nuts in my mind...

also keeping my car under lock and key atm... white hatchback with nice wheels and a nice exhaust pulled up across my driveway the other night while i was out at my car... looked down the driveway (2 young white dudes in it, the one driving rocking an Edward Cullen haircut and sunglasses - at dusk mind you when you don't need them)... when they saw me looking the looked away, and as i started to walk down the driveway they reversed up and drove off... this was in Yeerongpilly... the car was a Lanos or a Corolla (low light so hard to see exactly), but something of that shape...

I consider car thieves on the same level as pedo's and rapists and will deal with them accordingly if I catch them either stealing mine or anyone else's car... and that is the honest truth...

    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
