For those who may find this interesting, here is a copy of a post I made in the Skyline Specific section covering ADM's.

Hi Guys,

Here are a few more direct comparisons. I was at Sydney Dragway today and a mate of mine with an ADM parked next to my JDM. I was going to do this comparison with my ADM but having his car there I thought I'd post up a pic or two.

As previously posted, you can see the rear tail light configuration is different.

The ADM gets vinyl sun visors as opposed to the JDM which gets velour covered ones.

Skyline badge on the bonnet vs Nissan badge.

The ADM gets factory fitted 300ZX side blinkers, JDM gets generic Bosch or Mitsubishi blinkers.

ADM gets High/Low dimmer switch, JDM gets fog light switch.

As also stated before, ADM gets Blaupunct/Bosch Auto Flex centre roof aerial.

There are many more changes that I'll document one I guess a chance.

Cheers,

Bob.

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd post a bit of an update with some pics.......

The trim and bodywork is pretty much completed all bar a bit of touch up stuff.

I'd say we are 95% of the way there but there are always things that could be improved.

Cheers,

Bob.

Ey mate I know your after a 32 but just to let you know there is a stock midnight purple r33 v-spec listed yesterday for $16,300. I recognized it and remembered it was listed not so long ago for $19000 in Newcastle. Which I messaged him and confirmed. So it's a bargain but just be cautious.. Too soon to be reselling but definately worth a look!!! Cheap cheap.

Looks very clean in those pics inside & outside, shame on the bubble in the dash other than that it looks very neat & tidy.

You've done a great job.

LOL........ Replacement NON BUBBLE dash going in tomorrow afternoon.........

Bob.

I guess you've just about achieved what you wanted with this car, great job Bob.

Nearly........

I'm just looking at a few fabric dying options as the front seats are still not quite in a condition that I want and then a decent security system and THAT'S IT!

Went and saw Daniel at Carbon Car Systems at Blacktown on Saturday and settled on a premium Viper system.

June 30 was always going to be my deadline........ I must admit I'm so sick of forking out money every month restoring this poor thing. The budget is blown and what I've done in 4 months most people would do in 2 years so it is rather stressful.........

    • You're not wrong but 5W30 at 100C is like 10 cSt vs 25 cSt for 10W60. If we think in terms of viscosity margin 10W60 will probably still be ok at 130C but 5W30 is probably too little. It's absolutely shocking how hot the oil gets in something like a stock FL5 from only ~3 minutes of use on the Nordschleife. I would not risk taking a car like that to anything remotely intense without a ton of work done for cooling. Heat shielding on the manifold/turbo/downpipe, oil coolers, etc.
    • I think the concept is highlighting the various scenarios where thicker oil helps, and thicker oil potentially doesn't help and only generates heat and costs power, in turn for safety which isn't actually any safer (unless you're going real hot). If anything this does highlight why throwing Castrol 10w-60 for your track days is always a solid, safe bet.
    • Jason should have shown a real viscosity vs temp chart. All the grades have very little viscosity difference at full operating temperature.
    • Oops... I meant to include the connector  view... BR/W - power from fuse L/W - motor negative to fan control amp (and off to HVAC pin19) OR/B - PWM signal (from HVAC pin20) B --  ground
    • Yep, if you are applying filler it sounds like there is something wrong with the body lol. Safe to assume there is going to be a lot of sanding going on if your still applying fillers.  Picture a perfect bare metal panel, smooth as glass. You lay down your primer, it's perfect. (why are you going to sand it?) You lay down the colour and clear, it's perfect. No sanding at all took place and you've got a perfectly finished panel.  You won't be chasing your tail, sounds like you were prepping to start laying filler. If your happy with the body after the sanding, there is some bare metal exposed and some areas with primer, no issues at all, start laying the filler. You are safe to lay filler on bare metal or primer (of course check your technical data sheet as usual for what your filler is happy to adhere to).  This isn't a 100% correct statement. There is primer that is happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. There are fillers that are happy to adhere to smooth bare metal. Just make sure you're using the right materials for the job.  Typically if you are using filler, you would go primer, colour and clear. I've never seen any instances before where someone has laid colour over body filler (maybe this happens, but I haven't seen it before). So your plan sounds pretty normal to me.
