Hi all,

I've done a search and didn't get a definitive answer.

I'm after a high-flowing cat converter for my Stagea M35 that is a direct fit, that is with flanges already.

Can someone point me into the right direction. The Kenobi ones on ebay seems cheap and appear to be decent quality.. but unfortunately doubt come with flanges.

Thanks guys..

I wouldn't expect you to find anything like that. Why not just get your local exhaust shop to make up the flanges for you? Or ask Scotty?

Do you still have the stock midpipe with the big and heavy box of baffles in the middle of the car?

There is 2 cats in the M35. 1 in the dump pipe and 1 in the front pipe as Scotty said. There is NO "main cat"

They also don't have a flanged cat like the skylines and S chassis Nissans have. The M35 cat is moulded into the dump pipe and welded in as part of the front pipe.

You will need to replace the dump pipe with an a/market dump to eliminate this first cat and get a new front pipe made to ditch the 2nd factory cat and then you can either not run a cat in it or get an a/market cat welded in line.

thanks guys.

yes I was referring to the main cat.. after the front pipe..

cheers

As slippy said, there should be only 2 cats (dump and front pipe).

That "main cat" as you call it, is a massive resonator to quieten the exhaust.

You can replace this with a bolt on "cat-back" exhaust.

Hi guys..

Thanks for the input guys and apologies for any confusion.

What I'm doing is replacing the entire system with a new aftermarket 3" dump pipe, front pipe and a Kakimoto R cat back.

The front pipe will not have a cat but the Kakimoto R does have a resonator.

I assumed there would be a cat after the front pipe.. so glad I asked..

Thanks for the help guys.. now deciding whether to go weld a cat to the front pipe..

Hmmm....

Do it!, These cars need a high flowing cat - fumes are fkn stinky and needs to breathe as much as possible.

These cats work nicely (I changed from a de-cat front pipe to a front pipe with one of these).

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
