The plot thinens.

I like to support MS in VIC, but the continued reg changes and now a 'street' class where you can run r-compound tyres...I fully realise you cannot accommodate all. But that is a real disappointment.

What know distinguishes 'Street' from 'Pro' ?!?!?

'Street Legal Tyres' include any DOT approved tyre basically and 'Pro' is free except slicks, so the same tyres as 'Street'?!?!

Also the suspension mounting points, aero, weight reduction etc etc.

Why have 'Street' and 'Pro' if there is no clear distinction?!?

Aye indeed my friend, if R-comps are allowed in "street" class, IMO that essentially ruins the essences of it!

Hence the 140 UTQG was a sensible limit to keep it to high performance street tyres only.

But ye, will find out more and update when i have the answers.

We went through this tyre stuff before in sa and basically had similar problems. Not only that there seems to be no restrictions on tyre size either... I did some testing for bridgestone at the release of the adrenaline and on an mx5 they were as fast as a re55 from a few years before. It really makes the tyre ruling very hard to policebut if there is a clear rule then obviously if chosen we can buy tyres to suit the class... After all no point in coming second;)

While the latest batch of sticky road tyres 140/180 UTQG things, maybe closer then ever to the r-compound 'semi-slicks'. There is a marked performance difference and price difference.

Sprint events / time attack don't generally have restrictions on tyre size. As generally the manufactures of '90's JDM cars under tyred the cars to an extreme. Try running around on 215's in a 1400kg street GTST with >200rwkw.

hahaha whilst amusing, I'm not sure everyone's friends @ CAMS would think the same.

I would suspect there are going to be more tyre revisions and even PRO/Street class restrictions altered...

Hold tight people!

Also the suspension mounting points, aero, weight reduction etc etc.

Why have 'Street' and 'Pro' if there is no clear distinction?!?

Aero is free as long as its safe, weight reduction is free

Why have 'Street' and 'Pro' if there is noclear distinction?!?-Street is for street registered cars, Pro allows none registered vehicles toenter the competition.

Rego doesn't mean much in this form of motorsport. When street rego'd cars are doing <34 at Winton...

Typical of everyone - heaps of last min entries came in... And the tyres are now in question again (read below)

Will go through it all later in the week, i have no ideas who is "who" so to speak haha, just going on the merits and the plan to win :)

Have you bothered to read this thread, at all?

I've clearly stated once the Regs are worked out, the team will be formed and then announced. There have been a lot of entries and it's not a case of first in, best dressed.

Hell the first post has this in it:

Not everyone will be allowed to enter due to the limited numbers, if you entry is approved it will appear here in this Official Thread. Obviously we are looking to win, or at the least place very well. We must select the best and hope you all support the call that needs to be made.

Didn't think it was that hard to comprehend to be honest

tyres back to a treadwear of 120... wonder if that will change again....

Did you read that in the Regs dude?

I cannot find it and it looks to be the same as last week where the 120 was removed?

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
