Sau Vic Wins Tri Club Drag Challenge

Recommended Posts

A fabulous day yesterday at Heathcote Raceway saw SAU Victoria take out the inaugural Tri Club Drag Challenge.

The day pitted SAU Vic against the WRX and US Muscle Clubs to see who was fastest down the 1/4 mile.

The day was covered by My Drive and 2 of our members Russell Cunningham and Luke Schulze were picked out of the crowd to be interviewed for the show.

Huge congrats goes to Luke Schulze (NUTR33) for taking out the honours for the day with a 10.9 second pass.

Russell,I'm fairly sure you've passed Tony now for number of dead drive shafts!!!

Was great to catch up with everyone - cheers to all who came along to make it enjoyable :)

Im sure there will be pics/video to come - and be sure to stay tuned for an annoucement on when the footage will be aired on TV.

Thanks to Bec for being the SAU-VIC organiser :) (I think WRX club have some trophies for you to distribute - to the Blue GTR owner- Best Skyline in SnS & Fastest GTR)

All I can say is WOW... HE DID IT! Emotions have been a bit haywire since & I was very a proud wifey. Breaking into the 10's has been a dream for ages, and now its a reality.... so bring on some more tweaks and mid/low 10's? :whistling:

Congrats to Leon on the cool burnout at the end of the day on the pan & Sorry that Russ broke a couple of drive shafts, but glad he managed to get them replaced & get back out there on some slicks and have some fun!

I'd love to see any more footage/pics fo Lukes car if anyone has any?

Here's the 10.9 pass from my perspective:

See you all at DECA in a few weeks!

I have some pics on my facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.10151289197785593.804411.800850592&type=1

but not many.

I have to filter through the video of the day & once I have given it to respective owners I will post on youtube if they want.

Thanks to the organisers and WRX club, the day was run well and lots of fun.

Thanks everyone for the congrats

It took a bit to break into the 10s, but well worth the effort.

Its now time for E85 and some more boost, and hopefully a low 10.

Any new videos we get of the day we will upload to youtube, just search nutr33

Cheers

Was good to catch up Leigh - even if you were "batting for the other team" :)

How'd you end up going??

haha I know Bec its been ages! hey I was still battling for SAU! just in a falcon :nyaanyaa:

Ended up getting a 12.73 @ 110mph pretty happy with that.

Leon did great in the burnout comp, I assume he ended up winning the trophy? I left just before presentations

Thats a bit of a sore point "Sorry guys... I dont know about the burnouts on the back pad but this trophy is for best burnout out here warming up tyres" or something like that :/

Told him I will make him a trophy because it was a good show, and he broke stuff so he deserved a trophy!

    • Find out what RPM it was idling at with the IACV unplugged. It's very weird that the rpm didn't change at all, and then it stalled. When it stalls is it nearly like a switch off, like you've turned the engine off? Or is it more stutters and sputters and coughs to death over a few seconds? Or does the RPM just slowly keep going down and down? Have you done a test of trying to start it with the AFM unplugged? Does it still die?     If you Follow Josh's advice on using Nistune to check the voltages (which is a perfect method!) if you see anything out of wack voltage wise, THEN get the multimeter out and read the voltage directly at the sensor. If the two vary, then you're now looking for a wiring issue vs a sensor issue. So be aware, what the ECU sees, may not be what the sensor is actually saying too...
    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
