Who gives a turd. They're such a better looking car.

Thats what I love about you, so open minded, lol

Keep the car away from the paint shop, they held it hostage for 18 months last time :ph34r2: :ph34r2:

Gearbox goes out on Wednesday.

Turns out the baskets collapsed in the top of the injector. Seems to be a pretty big issue with 2000's.

New (different style) baskets in and it runs like a Swiss watch.

They have been flowed back up. All spot on. I'll take some photos and explain what's happening on Wedneaday night.

Joeys got flowed up and had the same issue but not as bad.

So I picked the car up today after being in a panel shop for 18 months. Car ran beautiful for 500M and had a fit. Had to get it towed. Wouldn't even start! Micky Hill came to the rescue and we towed it to Unigroup. Thanks a lot mate!

No worries, glad to help out

Also glad to see you putting the box in it and enjoying it for awhile, I even think you will beat me at this point as I am waiting for a few things to come though

Bit of an update.

The 5 speed should be out of it today. I dropped out transfer case oil, gearbox oil, coolant, engine oil and 60 L of fresh E85 so the guys can run it up to make sure it's all happy days. As much as I hate paying for them to change the oil it's just too much of a hassle to do it while it's out there. The guys also did me a huge favour to open up the workshop at 6 PM on Sunday to take it in. The quicker it's out the better.

I picked up a modified transfer case from Award today. I asked Terry how much difference there is between a stock one and this, his reply was "heaps". Should be interesting.

It also looks like atleast my primary 044 has kicked the bucket again! It got started last night from dead cold, AFR's were 15.8-16.2 and from memory the fuel pressure was a tad low. Just above 2.1 ish bar at idle, I remember it sitting a bit above 2.5.I've had this issue before and turned out to be a lazy fuel pump. Grrrrr. Time for one big single pump I think. Suggestions?

Progress shots should filter through tomorrow.

it will help if you clearance a little of the tinwork around the reverse lockout fitting on the LHS of the box as it gets very close to the body. Alternatively, just leave it out and get rid of the whole reverse lockout mechanism. Just need to plug up the whole with the right bolt/fitting ;)

Something like this Paul? http://www.aftermarketindustries.com.au/fuel-pumps--accessories-c3/holley-dominator-1800-p92/

I know its technically 2 pumps in one but at least its rated for e85 and wont die. Plus you can still run it staged like your current setup to keep the fuel cool.

It's the same one I have going in :)

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
