Good Holiday With A Good Drive?

What up!

At the end of the month I have my one year coming up with my gf and we want to go somewhere nice were we can stay a few days and take the gtr for a nice drive :) She enjoys it just as much as I do hehe Nothing more than two or three hours drive to get there.

So question is where to go?

A few places I don't want to go is Daylsford, Lorne or sorrento or around those areas. Just been to many times and thats why Im asking coz I have no idea where else to go?? lol

And remember it has to involve a nice drive were we can enjoy the car too.. So recommend away

Grampians.

Half the drive is shit boring though (word of warning).

speaks the truth. Aim for halls gap and go for a few runs towards Wartook and back. Was there earlier this year and on a Friday night (before 7pm, wasnt dark yet) it was empty and had a blast. Saturday/Sunday all day you have to put up with MX-5 clubs, possible hotrods and maybe an Evo or two. So I recommend not weekends if possible.

Downside is the road on the way there is terrible. Upside is theres plenty of good camp sites in the national park. We stayed near Mt Difficult where theres a great view and toilet facilities :)

Marysville sounds interesting, can go visit the wineries around the region

Ill look into the grampians. Is it just camping or can you stay in a hotel or B & B? Halls gap sounds fun!

There are B&B's up in Halls Gap, you can even rent houses/bungalows etc if you want to go with a few people.

If you do go, do the big climb through the mountains near Halls. It's a bit of effort but the view from the top is something else :)

Take it a step further and head up through the snowy/blue mtns..only take about 3 days for a round trip and It puts grampians to shame if you ask me.. The roads are better, the scenery is better, just stay away from the local's though. :P

My apologies to Victoria tourism but meh!!

Marysville is still a bit limited in facilities since the fires - although the tourism dollar would be welcome. There are some nice country roads out there, but you need to be careful... if you know what I mean!!

its ok, but roads are too tight twisty and often bumpy...good if you like rally cars i guess but its a GTR ffs...much better offerings out there where you can stretch its legs a little

Which roads are you referring too? black spur?

Sorry I should stay out of this cause i find a lot of roads in Victoria are just dissapointing especially when I take my skyline which is a somewhat harsh ride and the quality of the roads is rubbish..

there are some good roads but they are few and far between and going for a quick blast through the spur I find a little dull..its a 30 min rush often riddled with traffic anyway and once you get stuck behind a sunday driver the funs often over....

Personally I like big drives 6-8 hours + its the only way to truely get a feel for the road and your car, I would head around the coast through Lakes Entrance, maybe up to Bega then across through Jindabyne to Albury and come home on the Hume...You will find stacks of good road and could do it in 2 days easy..

might actually do it myself soon :thumbsup: prolly not much e85 along the way though :(

Your harsh ride if your own cars problem though - decent suspension setup and a GTR is a dream to drive on a lot of roads, mine was :)

You just have to know the area you are going to, what times you are likely to encounter lots of traffic etc.

Also remember up around the Spur there is always a heavy police presence. You could be doing nothing wrong and still end up being "inconvenienced" by a "random" inspection.

yeah im not sure, the bilsteins are dreamy but my spring rate my be a little harsh..its not too bad though dont get me wrong i wouldnt change it

I just prefer long open highway stretches too a little 30km blat through the spur that just doesnt do it for me, I get to one end and just want to turn around and do it again and again.. My drive up around Thredbo was amazing, as was the Blue mtns but i realize that is a bit far away but the roads were great and wide and there was plenty of good views.not sure if its covered in snow atm though....GOR is amazing also..

Anyway, why plan it, just get in the car and drive man and when the sun goes down find the nearest motel and sleep..Thats the best way you will find the best bits of road that you like

All good artz was a good read mate! Most likely going to go Halls Gap thanks for the recomendations everyone.

Never been down the spur before but Id rather do that with a sau cruise or something ;)

How about the Bass Coast? You can visit PI, Venus Bay and Wilsons Prom. Breathtaking scenery down there and some nice roads leading to the Prom. I can also recommend staying at Silverwater Resort in San Remo. Nice view over the Port Phillip Bay and not too expensive.

      So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel

      When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?

      Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.

      If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
