Those interior shots of the S15 are awesome Matboy...light painted?

Couple of photos from a friend's wedding last weekend...

And some from the recent Fuel magazine Issue 10 launch party...

Absolutely love this stuff mate, well done.

Thanks a lot mate, really appreciate the feedback. Experimenting with the light painting's good fun! The idea that you never know what you're gonna get until several minutes after you're done flailing around with a light in your hands is pretty cool - can be frustrating though too I guess - that first exposure was about 150 seconds from memory!

Nice shots of the red S15; taken at golden hour then?

Had a go at light painting... let me know what you think?

Nice dude!

Only thing I would suggest (and im surprised it wasnt mentioned yet) is to diffuse the light source you are using to avoid the stripey effect your getting, where you can see each individual LED as a single line in the group (unless you dont mind that effect, in which case dont listen to me, lol)

Other than that matching the different light color temps is something you could work on. You have the warmer tungsten lighting in the interior of the car and then the colder LED lighting on the outside. You could probably adjust the color temps in PP if you shoot raw or take one shot for the warmer light (tungsten white balance) and one shot for the colder light (fluro or thereabouts white balance) and then blend them together in post. Again, if the different color temps dont bother you then no need to listen to me, lol)

The framing is awesome and love the red from the tail-lights, very nice.

Matt, that second shot is messing with my head man, im trying to work out how the car got so blue considering the lighting in the rest of the scene. its like a motion light painted shot or something? *brain expoldes, lol*

Great feedback Jay, thanks a lot mate :)

Yeah for the first shot, I would have liked to diffuse the LED light - I've got a beauty dish on order so when it comes, I need to figure out how to attach my LED light to the dish to get the best diffused effect. For the second shot though I actually wanted some of that 'ribbon' effect of the reflected LEDs - I also think I could have added more light to the roof of the car and to the rear (bumper and behind the rear wheel) as the black car on a black background doesn't quite stand out.

The colour temperature is an interesting point. I don't shoot in RAW but it's still something I will look at next time. Particularly with the beige colour of the leather and incandescent interior lights the pure white light of the LEDs stands out.

The blue is from the headlight flare. Without the lights on it's reddy/slight orangey tint. Car was strobed, so had to add a bit of sunset over it to make it blend, then the lights just killed it anyway hahaha oh wells. trying new stuff :)

So much light painting radness Matt, good stuff!

And other Matt - Good stuff.

And Jay - Good stuff.

How awesome was the above? ^.^

In the meantime, here's Russmans R32 GTST blasting around PI in it's last shakedown before WTAC!

Very nice pics God_speed and MaTBoY, look fantastic as always.

Thanks boys :)

Kory - super clean pan - I like the lack of distracting signage etc in the background; just the kitty litter, grass and track

thanks man :) Appreciate it!

Kory, you've made me wanna head south. ALl the shots from P.I. look amazing! Shooting next to the ocean. not to mention the grass is actually green :P

Here's some a shot with some greenage. and NOT A CAR IN SIGHT!

good to see you experimenting, love seeing what you can come up with.

have you tried playing with strobe gels? you can get a free ROSCO sample pack from... http://www.rosco.com/australia/sbreqs/index.cfm

I was using them to match color temps just before I sold the DSLR and strobes. not always spot on, but with some experimentation you can get so close that its hard to tell which light is from one source and which is from another.

I do have a set of small gel's for flash, but they're so damn hard to get off the sample holder thing that i gave up haha. i need to buy some larger ones for the Bee's. I think i had a different brand, so maybe i'll try to get a set of these to play with too :) playing with colour is the best!

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
