Boost Problem

I have a problem, my car wont boost properly when the engine is cold, the turbo spools, you can hear it sucking in air, and the pressure guage goes up but the engine just kinda pauses for a few seconds before it gets hit with the full 7 psi, any ideas on what that could mean?

I would say don't boost it when the car is cold, it's not good for the engine. That's why Nissan backed all the timing out when it's cold, so you can't thrash it.

Yeah as above, better off to let it warm up before you boost it. I've always let mine get at least 5mm above the cold line on the gauge before boosting it.

Also could be the sparkplugs are on the way out, but as above try not the boost the car while its cold.

Alright thanks for the tips, just wasn't sure if the head was cracked or something so the pressure couldn't build up and once it heated up the metal expanded which closed the gap

Regardless cold or warm it should boost up without hesitation, it just doesn't go hard when cold because of the timing reduction vs. water temperature.

wastegate could be slightly open as well..

Can you hear any tapping when the engine is cold
