Sau Vic 2012 Motorsport Championship Round 5 - Sandown 11Th August

Recommended Posts

yeh the 14 PS lines take a different route so they are fairly easy on it.

yeh the cambers alright, I managed to pull AT LEAST 35mm on the guard from standard if not more on the weekend. so theres heaps more to straighten, if need be but ill leave that up to traction tyres later on. not fussed about times, just curious to punch it around on the straights and be able to properly use the power.

GTTR34, how much did your alignment cost if you dont mind me asking? seems we may have a similar setup from your post in the vic section with the exception of different coilovers.

Just picked up my new AO48's, they are worth 50kw at idle. :)

Might need a guard roll myself...

How ironic given yesterday's events.. If you had those tyres on we might have made it through the intersection!

Hey mate were did you get this from? Ive looked everywhere for one

ebay was the cheapest I could find @ $79 with free postage.

They sell in on their website but it costs $78 + $10 postage if I remember correctly

If you are going to Sandown with a loud exhaust don't expect to do many laps.

Where is the mike?

No issues here, my screamer is plumbed back. :P

Tony, what software would you use for Iphone4? And what mount is solid enough for track work? I might get in on this too. :)

I'm just copying Richo here :P

So Phone + racechrono then racechrono2avi. Then in conjuction with the GoPro hero 2 overlay the videos.

As for mounting i havent though about that. Are you allowed to have loose items in the glove box and in the compartment between the seats (the one with the lid so it won't be open)?

Was just thinking of chucking the phone and GPS in there

damn, since when are they cracking down so hard on this? I've been to sandown with full screamer in the s15 and not had an issue.... maybe i was just lucky on the day

I was hoping to make a solid windscreen mount for the iphone and use the onboard video, to save me buying the gopro straight away. Hopefully if the mount is good enough it shouldn't bounce around too much.

i dont think they are fussed with glove box, mine was full last time I went lol.

i'de prefer using the phone than the GoPro if you can solid mount it to the windshield somewhere as scott said.. its not like you need 1080p and for it to be water proof when realistically you are going to probably watch it on youtube at 680p lol

that said, im usually persuaded by wank factor and the fact that it can be mounted externally from the car - which would be my reason for using the gopro.

Cool cool

Wasn't sure to clean out my glove box or not.

Hrmm might test out the video recording capabilities on my Galaxy 3 and see if thats ok.

GoPro i just borrowed from Simon for the day to see how it is

you are meant to have nothing loose in GB or anywhere in cabin.

I have had it checked from time to time, not very often however.

I have my gps receiver race taped down so it down ot move, then h\phone in pocket so it not move around.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
