Havent changed my oil since right before PI track day last month, i figure it's a bit overkill given it's only been within 300km of use since then...

Straight after this event though i'm gonna drop the oil.

Mine was a couple of months , a couple of dynos and a track day old..

I wasn't going to change it either but castrol edge was on sale at repco, 25% off.

thought I would give it a try, feels good so far. :)

raw results:

such varied conditions made it very challenging.

Big ups to Joe and Greg for their times, very impressive.

Bel hope it doesn't turn out too expensive..

Yep very good day had in the end. P!%&D off at the rain, but had one ok session without too much water.

If only I had held on to that session, definatly would have been a pb time, just pushed too hard:(

Happy with a 1:32 though considering conditions!

Pumped for Winton on the 1st Sept now!

Good also to meet some more SAU'ers and put some names to faces.

Very happy to run a 1:32 in the whale, shame the gearbox played up in the last sessions.

Where's the pics? :)

Yep, great time mate - well done.

Shame about the rain, but can't wait for the next one.

Felt really sorry for the guy with the silver 33 gtr who blew his engine, i'm guessing it was due to oil starvation as he's come out of that corner really hard then I saw the white smoke bellowing out. I've got a tomei sumple baffle to hopefully help prevent this, but yeah still made me really paranoid after seeing that.

My stock oil gauge was saying 120c after 4th lap towards the end of the day, maybe it's just innacurate I dunno because i've got an oil cooler.. unless of couse it's just because i'm running 10w40 viscosity oil, might need to run a bit thicker on the track to keep the temps lower?

yep, oils temps were up around the 120 for me too, strange with such a low ambient temperature at sandown today.

shame about the rain/oil/long breaks between sessions, especially when the sun was out, still somehow managed a pb (i think it was the later braking up the back) can't ask for much more.

thanks to the organizers, hopefully winton gives us some good weather!!??

What a bumma ey, but such is motorsport.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas and thanks to Jack I'm home.

Still no idea how badly the engine damage is but I'm pretty sure it will be more expensive than a big mac meal..

PS:and I didnt even get my fastest lap timed due to dorian not working...double bumma.

Yeah true, that is the nature of the game.. I've had that happen to me a couple of times, i've noticed it's always to do with oil temps, and or high revs.

I've got Ray from RE Autoworks to fix mine before, i'd recommend him if you're looking at quotes.

Oh, and I got a nice snap of your car lining up, love how you've painted the front lower lip silver looks heaps better.

Anyways, here are some pics, i've got some videos which i'll upload at some point too.

shame about the weather, but a great turn out by the SAU crew! between us i reakon we gave the wrexies (and others) a run for their money.fastest car on track = DATSUN!

Bel, bad luck on the grenade today mate i feel for you. :O

bad day for pb's but it was great to meet heaps of people and check out your cars.

alot of respect for the guys out on there first track day, those conditions were challenging to say the least

Hey Az got a photo of my car that almost looks cool,...thanx man...

spent most of the day gettin passed by rexs and bimmers and evos and other skylines...still had a blast and drove home :D

Going from PI on a dry sunny day ,to Sandown in the wet is an eye opener, empathy to anyone who chose this as their first track day cause it sucked balls...

no worries! scott should have a larger image

Bit of an update on my engine.

Looks like #1 piston smashed into the spark plug. Sparkplug is broken in half...bottom part is missing, broken off. When I shine a light into the #1 bore I can see a conrod which is not quite right. Then looks like all those loose parts found their way into the turbos causing the smoke screen.

So yeah. That is the story.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
