Fine Advice

So I've gotten this $291 fine and lost 3 demerit points for failing to stop at a stop sign.

I was pretty surprised when the officer pulled me over and said that, considering I had put my car in first and that gear locks up until you stop.

Can anyone on here give me any advice about disputing fines? I keep hearing not too, but I think this $291 fine is pretty ridic. I've seen speeding fines that were less.

I had no idea what this officer was on about, he seemed to be under the impression I wasn't paying attention to driving and started mocking me about drugs and alcohol and then went on about how road safety is important, which made me want to drive into a wall since I always pay attention.

It will be a hard one, if you have a clean record send in a letter of appeal and see how you go

Don't like your chances. The whole appeal thing is a bit of a joke, I don't know anyone that has a fine rescinded under appeal. Worth a shot though I guess

Well I've had a 27km'h fine droped to a warning once. I did have a 10+y clean driving record.

I might add its 3 seconds you have to stop for from memory and if you did come to a stop but my for 3 seconds then your screwed.

Just wear it on the chin and move on I would say

Don't like your chances as its a sworn officers word vs yours. You need to come to a complete stop (not slightly creeping at 2km/h) and pause, look both ways and the pull out. Good luck

Spoke to some of the other students today who are in my class, they seem to know all the real world stuff better. I was told that anyone trying to get into the police force has to have a spotless record and that applies for the lab rats as well. I'll have to swing it by my teachers about minor infringements, but I was told speeding fines weren't allowed and one of the girls has one which shes bummed about.
