There was an issue of MOTOR or Wheels i cant remember where they compared a 911 Turbo to a 34 GTR, stock and stock. The 911 beat it by 0.8 secs down the quater. However the prices of both vehicles gave an idea of some sort: R34 GTR $110,000 / 911 Turbo $310,000. :P imagine spending another 100g's let along 50g's and comming back to the porsche, skyline would ****in own it.

a R34 is just as fast as a 996TT. not qtr mile but.

Oooh BUSTER, you gotta take a chill pill a relax a little, you don't know me at all and I am far from a Hero GTR owner, with a big ego.

My point is "quite clear" out of the factory GTR's are a High 12-low 13 car, how many cars "out of the factory" can do that, even modified some cars have to spend big $$ to do that.

And I don't race anyboy racers, infact I don't go out looking for races either, but if you want a race I have a friend with an XF Falcon, it got the old 250Xflow 6cyclinder, carby (not EFI), using Taxi GAS, that will give you a 2-3second head start, while his watching some DVD's, getting a massage from his Vibrating seats :P, and still blow you all on street tyres... But That's not the point I am making.

No I chose not to buy a GTR as imo for low to mid $30k I was able to be a very quick highly modded 1996 GTST, I did look at a few lightly modded GTR's that were forsale for the same $$ but value wise the GTST was miles ahead of the GTR's in performance and value as I would of had to spend at least another $10k  on the GTR to have made it maybe as fast as the GTST is

I've ran 11.7 @ 128mph in a GTST what have you run? or have you and meshmesh raced a few boy racers on the street and come to the opinion the GTR can not be beat hahaha don't make me laugh

I run exactly the same set up on the street as I do at the drags and trust me when I tell you I have no problem beating most GTR's on the road or the strip, I know there are GTR's and even other GTST's that are quicker then me but I was replying to meshmesh's blanket statement of

Did he mention stock or out of factory, NO he didn't

hahaha the big deal is I wasn't talking about any of the cars you mentioned, I was talking about other imports I have mates in anything from a S15 to a R32-R33 gtst that will happily beat your unbeatable stock GTR at the strip or on the road

Thats a very good time you ran. well done im sure you will beat me (not in the wet :P )

No I havent run my GTR as I have only had it for a few weeks (and I can tell you I payed a lot less for it than your GTST).

for the cars you mentioned on the road it would be hard to match the times (even probably for you!) that you would do on a sticky drag strip with a 30sec burnout. even with my previous GTST I would have traction problems at 14PSI (I ran a 14flat Heathcote although my tyres were shit (I think the car would have been good for a high 13)).

once I get an exhaust,PFC, cam gears, remove boost restrictor I shoud be able to run mid to low 12's...so any car that can beat me on the road or strip, I take my hat off to.

Sorry I missed the STOCK part in your first quote I have no problem with the fact that a stock GTR is good from factory but its a far cry from what you said in the 1st post I replied to

You know of a 8 second XF falcon?? hahaha thats great but what the f*ck has it got to do with what you posted

I don't need to take a chill pill I just get sick of how one sided some people are and kid themselves that there GTR can not be beaten

Maybe you should buy some of my DVD's ? AHHAHAHA. man  a R34 VSPEC II will smoke any porsche.

Maybe not a GT1 :P .

but for roadcar wise there is nothing that can beat the R34. look at the Mines R34 for an example. do you seriously think a mclaren can beat that...

go figure.

Have you seriously seen any footage of a Mclaren going around a circuit??? If you had you wouldnt be so quick to dismiss it...my money would be on the Mclaren.

I havent driven any of them so not too qualified to talk about it, but watching the BMI vids/dvds, then the EVO VII /VIII Lancers hand it to the GTR on circuits, and it took a Nimso modified R32 GTR VSpec to keep up with the Porsche 996TT.

I love Skylines, but come on, you are still talking about a production car built in large numbers, even when modified i wouldnt be putting too much money on them beating the truly exotic cars like V10 Porsches / McLarens etc etc around race tracks

I have seen a comparo with a R33 GTR being punted aorund a race track by Richard Burns, and it had the quickest lap time, all std road cars and up against 355 Ferraris, 996 Porsche (NA 3.6L) , Louts Elise, Ferrari 550, Mitsu 3000GT...so they are damn quick cars, but ...

meshmesh your right. its not if you modify a car. stock cars that do 12 seconds is rare for this price. a GTST is NOTHING like a GTR even if its modified

hahaha yep your right a modified GTST is nothing like a stock GTR, The GTST is much faster, better value and all in all more fun

maybe the Japs got it wrong?

The GTST was really suppossed to be their supercar and not the GTR?

If you are so anti-GTR why do you have a GTR spoiler on your GTST?

no no sorry I know it seems I'm anti GTR I'm really not, I love GTR's though they are not for me its the attitude of some GTR drivers that upset me not the car

I'm even using a GTR head on my new set up hahaha and all I meant by the above comment was that there is really no comparision in my opinion between a modded GTST, well as modded as mine is and a stock GTR its not fair to the GTR to even compare

Its funny how easily a thread gets diverted....all I initially asked was has anyone given any off these expensive eurocars a bit of a hiding.... I guess I shoud have generalised to all skylines and not just GTRs!!! oh well its all just a bit of fun

I'm even using a GTR head on my new set up hahaha and all I meant by the above comment was that there is really no comparision in my opinion between a modded GTST, well as modded as mine is and a stock GTR its not fair to the GTR to even compare

So the moral to your story is buy a modded gtst for over $30k, make it look like a gtr, go to the expense of adding a gtr head and you have a car that would be marginally quicker in a straight line than a lightly modded gtr. But hey after spending your $40k+ you'll have buyers lined up when it comes time to resell. Maybe you could add a front diff and attessa to your shopping list and you'll have a gtr buster.

for me, "R" is just another letter of the alphabet :P

when i had my wrx, i had a few squirts with a black Ferrari 355 spyder off the lights and from rolling 60-70km/h starts......but this was yearsssss ago. what a h00t!!!

off the line i took him by 1.5 car lengths (my wrx was far from stock), but by 80km/h he was practically infront me. i will never forget the sound of it as it screamed past and i will also never forget the amount of cheers and thumbs up i got from other motorists who witnessed it :)

For sure the moral of the story is buy a highly modded GTST for $30k and run 11's no other expenses unless you really think the rear wing cost $10k hahaha

yep just because i'm using a GTR head in the new set up means I want my car to be a GTR :P the times and power quoted were all done with the RB25det with the mods that came with the car

hahaha marginally quicker you really think i'd change a 330rwkw set up to be only marginally quicker, I'm changing to a RB30/26 with bigger turbo, bigger cams pretty well bigger everything so I can run 10's and because I bought the car with mods I was able to sell them and will get into the new set up for a fraction of the price as to what it would of cost me had I started with the same lightly modded GTR I could of bought for $30k

So I'd say the moral the story is I will end up with a 10 second 1996 GTST for my $40k+ and be one of the fastest GTST's in Australia and you'll have your GTR hahaha

I'm not saying GTST's are better cars all I'm doing is pointing out that bang for buck the GTR is not everyones cup of tea and as drags are what I choose for my car the GTST is better value to get what I want out of it

Buster, sorry to say your skyline will get whooped by a GTR R33. just put 15psi and zorst the R will flog your ass.

anyway about the GT-R shit. i have LOTS AND LOTS of Mclaren video's i have one of a 660HP R34 GT-R Vspec II racing a Mclaren and there is nothing like the corner exit speed accel taht can compare to the GTR even against a mclaren with same horses.

and look at the weight and price differnce. and even the looks destroyd it.

ahh well whatever you guys think i have race a 355ci torry on the highway and WHOOOPED his ass rolling start 100km/h at 17psi.

I'm changing to a RB30/26 with bigger turbo, bigger cams pretty well bigger everything so I can run 10's and because I bought the car with mods I was able to sell them and will get into the new set up

Sorry I misunderstood, buy a modded gtst and sell the mods, then put a gtr top end on a 3.0 litre. Might have been easier for you to buy the gtr and remove the front drive shaft if you want that gtr engineering without the added traction. While you were adding that gtr wing did you add other gtr access too such as seats and brembos? The thread started out comparing gtr's to big dollar euros - funny you dont see any gtst's being compared to these performance cars. You can haha all you like i'm to busy rolling aroud in stitches to get a haha out.

There we go someone let it out :P good on yah ben:) heheh

anyway your right why didnt anyone compare a GTST ? i think because they are NOTHING and i mean NOTHING like a GT-R.

big dollar euros are usually big dollars and luxury. performance wise they arnt to good for the dollar.

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
