point was, this 'design' doesn't result in a drone

you could sell your exhaust and buy a Midori one - they also have another version with some sort of extra resonator or something as well, bit quieter.

But you'll need a muffler, so your choices are cut and weld or get a new one

yes, it's a Midori exhaust

Where did you source the midori exhaust from?

Here we go...

http://volvospeed.co...ne-elimination/

An old timer retired 80 yr old mechanic around the corner from me suggests that before trying on the wrap, obtain a tuning fork and whilst a mate is revving your car at around the 3000rpm mark, you place the fork at certain spots along the exhaust.

Wherever, the tines vibrate madly, the wrap can go on at those spots.

Well it won't cost much to try.

Meanwhile as Ash alluded to, I have a decent muffler on my Fujitsubo Ti system and...

JEZ says, it's quiet as...

...and there's no drone.

im running a ganador racing titan titanium cat back and a rsr front pipe and no drone what so ever. Its very quite below 4k rpm, Above 4k rpm and it sounds like the world is about to end! Im picking up a titanium midori front pipe this week for some extra scream

If you want that unique titanium sound without the drone looks like you might have to go a system like mine or daniel's

^ are the RSR pipes equal length like the Mines front pipes? are you going the 90mm Midori pipe? Ti or SS? i'm thinking of changing, but would love to hear the difference. Poss organise a time to have a listen?

Andrew, exhaust came with the car (as well as about every single other Midori item :D)

Drone is fixed with hemholtz chambers or branch resonators. Its math and physics, not guessing. OEMs do it, you should too.

Ah lucky mofo :P

I'm trying to decide between a full custom 3.5" stainless exhaust or one of those midori titaniums...

Hey mate no the rsr pipes look like this..

And the midori pipes are titanium 90mm. I recently bought them of the forum and should have them arrive this week. The motor is out atm but everything should be put back and tuned up by chasers end of this week/early next week. Would love to meet up. PM your number and will definitely organise a time for a listen

Are these an equal length design? I cant find much info on them that states what design they are. I bought them more hopefully for the sound, even though I have never heard them before or know how different it will sound to the rsr pipes I already have lol

I have a racepace 90mm on my 32 gtr. So quiet.

BUT it's mild steel and so heavy compared to these Ti systems.

To the OP, what is the criteria that you are looking for?

1. lightness

2. quiet

3. sound of ti

In order to help we need to know what your priorities are. I want quiet so saving 5kg isn't a biggie for me, and that can be had easily by changing over seats etc or removing the space saver...

ronin 09.

Cheers for the help,

Im not fussed about weight, TI sound would be good... But im just after getting rid of the drone it has and making it a tad quieter as its a bit louder than what I thought it would have been.

Cheers :)

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
