SS8_Gohan
Midori has you covered if you want to go that route.... (but i don't think it needs it, mine doesn't drone, maybe it reduces db somehow) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414728-titanium-exhaust-drone/page/4/#findComment-6652879 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
You love the look of it? How much can you see? Just the back bit? Fine. Just keep the back bit of it on the car, put the front bit in the shed, get a new front bit made up at local trustworthy exhaust shop in stainless with nice size centre muffler. Job done. Ronin 09
i've heard good things about Borla mufflers... never used them though http://www.borla.com/products/universal.aspx stainless though so you'd need to either get flanges to mate the stainless to ti system, or make it a slip system...? black bnr32
Black bnr32: your solution is technically robust and elegant Fixed that for you I'm willing to bet the branch fits fine where the center muffler goes. Read my earlier links guys! simpletool
Great idea on paper...... But tell me where you can fit that under the ass of a GTR and still have a reasonable ride height - because a lowered GTR you only JUST have enough room to fit a 4" exhaust with dual mufflers and even then you are usually around 80mm-100mm There is no room for anything extra. Hence go dual mufflers and you don't have a problem anyway so it kinda cancels itself out. You're points are valid but the owner states a 3" exhaust (not 4"), you'd need to be able to fit something like 80cm of pipe though. kaneryan
Ok guys I got under my car today and found the exhaust is up against a metal brace... Could this be the cause of my drone? I was gonna exhaust wrap where its touching but ran out of time today, as ive for other stuff to do, but would that do anything or do I actually have to make it stop touching all together? XRATED
The exhaust should be freely hanging under the body. Just grab it and give it a little wiggle. You'll get all kinds of resonance and banging if the exhaust touches the body or is solid mounted. J. I was gonna exhaust wrap where its touching but ran out of time today, as ive for other stuff to do, but would that do anything or do I actually have to make it stop touching all together? the exhaust wrap will eventually rub through where its touching the body, as said elsewhere the exhaust MUST NOT be hard up against any part of the body of the car, even if its not the cause of the drone, i suggest you add more clearence Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/414728-titanium-exhaust-drone/page/4/#findComment-6660126 Share on other sites
kaneryan
Well I sepersted the exhaust from the brace and it still drones.. It was the flange that was touching not the actual pipe..... But anyway stop didnt do anything..... Next idea I think I might exhaust wrap the front pipe and then failing that a whole new mid pipe with bigger muffler...... A few people are saying it could be the front pipe or cat??? Anyone. Have any ideas or thoughts? XRATED
TBH, if your exhaust is hung properly, all sealed properly and is still droning. I'd be looking for a new exhaust. It wouldn't be doing your Ti exhaust any justice by cutting it up... Maybe look at a butterfly valve, behind your cat? brad 110
The drone will be caused by the rear muffler no doubt. Wrapping it will achieve nothing other than making your arms itch for two days. kaneryan
FML really! ^^^^ I've been told its the resonator It could be the cat It could be the front pipes Now the end muffler/cannon some even say wrap the front pipes with exhaust wrap, whilst others say wrap the exhaust. whilst others say wrapping the exhaust will make the titanium system become to hot and crack Im so confused about what decision to make!
