Loveley suspension in the Forester. Very nice.

Seats, and everything are good, cant compare to the old commercial vehicle Navara.

Im sure he will love it, they have nice 4wd handling too.

Turbo?

Yep, now I just need the more power bit!
I imagine a torquey 400kw and drag radials would destroy the old driveshafts. GTR rear end should be next to unbreakable. I hope.

I'm going to need an alignment too with adjustable toe and camber just whacked in to get it rolling. Craig Hall should be able to sort it out :)

Dont get anything with rose joints, stick with proper ball joints and bushes.

Firstly the rubber boots dont last because its the wrong shape/design, boots get too stretched and twisted.

Secondly the joints wear out very quickly.

So you end up having to re buy those bits in 6 months, (this time the good expensive ones) and its a terrible waste of cash.

I have had: Driftworks, Just Jap, and Hardrace rose joints sht themselves. Good thing about Hardrace is they have the option: bush or rose.

Driftworks do a nice Hicas lock, yet their castor rod braces are total crap.

Nice work btw......

Picked it up!

Bought this little Charade to fix up and use as a daily.

It's gonna need a bit of work haha.

Shocks need replacing. Damaged rims and bald tyres. Brake pedal goes to the floor. No dash lighting. Drivers seatbelt constantly locks. Drivers seat flexes as you lean into it. Crappy tinting that's peeling off. Front grill is just sitting in place. And then just general human slime... :/

It's gonna be a mad little beast when I'm done! :D

Looking forward to getting into it! Best part is it cost me 35 bucks for a tank today and a drive back from Sydney only used 1/5th of a tank haha!

Actually, depending on if and what I get (if and when the 33 goes), I may have some rims that will fit the Charade.

What year is it and the PCD etc?

Working on the charade today. Swapped passenger and driver side locks as the driver one was well worn. Pulled door cards out and am giving everything a good clean. Removed tint from passenger side windows and rear window. De-stickered the back end.

Ordered new shocks, tempted to get some king springs at some stage to take 20-30mm off it ;)

Do it! Kings aren't the best but they work. :D

Dad got the Forester today, Sad to say goodbye to the Navara.

That car (owned for nearly 20 years) has been part of Every House Move I have ever had starting from the age of 19. :(

So Happy for him n Mum to have a Loverly Upgrade though.

He stalled it twice leaving the Caryard.

Finished cleaning the interior and put the seats and plastics all back in. New drivers door handle, new dash lights, new tyres and new oil.

Plugs, leads, coolant flush, shocks and brakes to go.

Gettin close to getting this thing in a drivable condition! :)

My maths say that's less than 2L/100km lol

I spend last night installing BM50 and gtr rear brakes, bleed, refit exhaust with modified hanger because GTR cradle is a bit different, tighten all bolts on draveshafts (really shouldve done that before refitting the exhaust!) and put normal wheels back on. Wheel alignment thismorning :)

    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
