Vacuum Hose

What vacuum hose do you use on the RB26? I have been advised not to use the silicone hose as it can split but this is the only vacuum hose that seems to be sold - I guess I can use some 6mm ID fuel hose (AN4) but wondering what you guys use?

Silicone vacuum hoses are very slippery, if it slips off the FPR you will lunch your engine

I used either fuel hose or braided line for all of my stuff.

clamp it or zip tie it and it wont "fall off"

Silicone hose plus OEM type spring hose clamps work fine on anything that has a barb or flare on the end of it. If you're trying to put the hose onto a pipe with no barb/flare, silicone may well creep off, especially with boost.

I have successfully made a flare on the end of such pipes before by using a little epoxy putty to build up the outside of the pipe tip.

So if I wanted to go for the absolute best and safest option should I go for braided fuel hose in AN4 (6mm ID)?

For vacuum lines? Seems like overkill to me.

Maybe the cheap silicone hose splits? The hose on mine has been there like 6 years and was fine. I changed it to black rubber as i was over the ricey blue

Each to their own Anthony, no-one bagged you out for buying an overpriced Stagea... Did they...

Turbosmart makes some of the best silicone Vacuum hose I have found, the Autobarn stuff kept splitting on me. Definitely cable tie the ends, should be good for over 50psi as tested by myself.

I'm with Anthony...whats wrong with regular vacume hose??. cable tie or clamp it for extra protection and it should meet your needs...

It just can't handle the heat. I have replaced all my stock hoses due to leaks as they had all gone hard. After a few years, the replacement hoses have all gone hard and are leaking again. Silicone doesn't have that problem.

Why don't we use rubber on our aftermarket intercooler piping joins? Because we have all seen the factory rubber go hard causing leaks. Reinforced Silicone ftw.

Ahh see...but you're pushing a tight engine bay to extremes...on you average RB gtr is it really an issue??

No. Normal vacuum hose is OK for normal situations. I've got plain old rubber for most things in my engine bay, including intercooler elbows that have been in service for 10 years. All fine.

This is the only topic about vacuum hoses that i have come up in the search... what sizes do I need for all the vacuum lines? 6mm about 6feet?
