I upped a guys PB by 20kg in 5 minutes by raising his hips up

He'd been deadlifting 190kg for nearly a year, 5 minutes later it was 210kg

He was trying to squat the weight up

Check out Martins vid, he pulls 281kg@79kg

Deadlifts are a back exercise

you are right. I thought he was talking about too high vs normal. My vids are on the bit too high side to work my back more , I remember going a lower when going for heavy lifts but, still not squat level. At least that's what I remember doing been a long time. I'm not ready to go real heavy again yet.

Didn't someone do 25?

Added grumbles now, was looking forward to actually pushing it with the squats, 20 still had heaps of room left for more. Got a full 10 out the other day at 72.5 with room so wanted to increase that too. Guess I'll be doing this contest who-knows-when the shoulder is better.

I was... but I'm in the middle of a program for GPC states and TTT scared me by telling me not to hurt myself... I should've done it today when I trained...

I won't win anyway, I HATE deadlifts for reps... anything over 5 sucks balls lol

He just scared you so that so he can beat you and make sure he controls the next challenge....

I don't think it's the reps over 5 you 'hate' , so much as the rest in between sets that your oldman-itis 'likes'. After all , add those 5 rep sets up and you may as well just keep going for 15-20 in a row? ha ha.... just do it and compete . It's more win!

Bit of a noob question...is it normal to have pain after deadlifts? I usually only get it after doing sets of high weight or 1RMing, so it's related to heavy exertion...and it disappears after about 15-20 minutes. I can't tell if it's muscles aching or joints, so am a tad concerned. Have always had it, since doing deadlifts. I ask my friend if he feels the same after deadlifts and he refers to a tightness in his back muscles...but I'm not sure if we're talking the same thing, cause this makes leaning over the basin to wash hands at the end of a session quite painful.

I have had back issues in the past due to bad posture at work, so get cautious when it comes to back pains. And no other exercise gives me that feeling in the area being worked.

I started a DL challenge over on my forum, 2.5 x bw for men and double bodyweight for women

Nina went first and managed 120kg x 10@58kg

I'll get a few of the guys to do some next week, mind you, Zoran, Spiros, Rocky, Mick and Max cant get close, only Martin would beat her 10 at 2.5 x bw (men)

Is it Normal? No.

Is it normal for me? Yes..

lol

Don't be too worried mate.

I'd say you probably didn't hold as tight for one rep or perhaps hyperextended a little at the top on a couple of reps.

When you get a chance, lay on your back and bring your knees up until your whole back (including lower back) is flat on the floor.

lay like that for 5 minutes so it all settles.

nights sleep and you'll be fine.

This is also the reason I don't like lots of reps.

you get tired and sloppy.

I've got one more week of 12 reps and then down to 7 weeks of 5 reps, then 2 weeks of 3s, then 1 week of doubles, then it's time to Beat Nick!

lol

    • End game is to: - Remove all the slop from old worn parts - Adjust setup so that the wheels actually fit and the car is drivable (currently it is not because of the extreme rubbing on the guards).   Progress over the last couple of days, removed the rear hubs! Next steps: - Buy bushings - Replace bushings/bearings on hub - Reinstall

    • A few random issues have popped up since my last update. My WMI pressure sensor failed within about 10 minutes of it seeing liquid. It was a 20$ China special, so I'm not surprised. My name brand replacement should arrive today.  My power steering assist also decided to crap out last weekend. The usual, works for about 60 seconds after starting the car then I lose it. I dusted off my old copy of NDS and connected to the HICAS ECU. Code 4 for assist solenoid.... I tested the solenoid and it's fine.  I knew the day where my HICAS ecu would crap out would come, and I welcome it. It was the last HICAS part on the car that is now in the bin. I've ordered an SSR and I will control the power steering solenoid with my Haltech ecu. It will be nice to have proper speed referenced assist again after all these years.
